Samsung NP-Q35 laptop - keyboard removal procedure

KEYBOARD REPLACEMENT
Make sure to separate the AC adapter and battery before disassembling the system.
* Slide the knob all the way to the end in the direction of the arrows (1) and push the battery in the direction of the arrows (2)
* If you push the battery upwards, the battery is separated.
* Remove the HDD compartment cover.
* Remove the memory compartment cover.
* Remove the mini-card compartment cover Remove the screws from the bottom.
* When removing the HDD compartment cover, you will find the HDD. Separate the HDD cable and lift up the HDD at an angle of 70ยบ as shown in the figure.  (To separate the HDD cable, lift up the cable connector.)
Caution: Do not lift the HDD up using excessive force.  Make sure to remove the HDD before turning over the system.
* Separate the ODD as the figure shows.
* Remove screws fixed up TOP and BOTTOM as the figure shows.
* Push the hooks inwards using tweezers as the figure shows and lift up the keyboard.
Caution: Avoid scratching the Top when pushing the hook with the tweezers.
* Lift up the keyboard, then the Connector Lock and separate the FPC.
Lift left side first.
* Separate Cap-Top lower side to 2 of 3
* Separate Cap-Top lower side fully
Caution: Be careful to happen scratch on LCD Front because of excessive force when you disassemble Hinge-Cap area.
Separate the whole Cap-top.
Disconnect the antenna cable connected to the wireless LAN and take the cable out in the direction of the arrow.
Re-do the above procedure to install a new keyboard.

SERVICE MODE
When the EEPROM has been replaced, the SVC data should be restored as the function of individual system and specification 
To Enter and exit SVC mode
Note: Into the SVC mode, Initialize with default data.
* Press 5 Seconds MENU buttons on both TV set and Remote Controller at the same time to get into SVC mode.
* Press the PR ▲▼ button several times to find SVC Data.
* Input the corresponding SVC data referring to Table below with the VOL ◀▶ key.
* Press TV/AV button to exit SVC mode.
Factory outgoing setting & Initialize with default data (into the SVC mode).  Do not change the “( )” items.

USB PORT OPERATION CHECK
The YST-MS35D has a USB port. This USB port operation is checked be necessary whether or not normal state.
Installing and verifying the YST-MS35D speaker device drivers
Follow these steps to install the Yamaha YST-MS35D speaker device drivers in your Windows 98 system using the included CD-ROM, and verify that Windows 98 recognizes the installed device drivers and that CD audio, sound generated while using software, and system sounds from the personal computer will be output via the USB port.

System requirements
For digital audio streaming using a USB connection:
OS: Microsoft Windows 98
CPU: 200 MHz or faster Intel Pentium MMX processor or equivalent
HDD: At least 10 MB available space
CD-ROM drive for driver installation
USB port compatible with USB standards ver 1.0
Installing the speaker device drivers
* Do not connect the PC and the subwoofer using the USB cable before installing the YST-MS35D device drivers.
* Make sure that no other CD-ROM is loaded in the CD-ROM drive and that you quit all application programs.
* Have your Windows 98 CD-ROM ready when you install the Yamaha YST-MS35D speaker device drivers. You may need it in some cases.
* The installation procedure may differ from the following instructions depending on the system environment. Follow the instructions that appear in the dialogue box.
1 Connect the YST-MS35D speakers and connect the AC adapter to the AC receptacle. At this time, do not connect the subwoofer to the computer using the USB cable.
2 Turn on your PC and start Windows 98.
3 Insert the YAMAHA YST-MS35D CD-ROM into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.  If the Windows 98 Auto run feature is turned on, the installation start up screen appears automatically.
4 Continue with the installation as prompted.  If the Windows 98 Auto run feature is not turned on, you must start the installation manually, as explained below.
5 Double-click the My Computer icon. The My Computer window opens.
6 Double-click the “Yamaha” CD-ROM icon. The installation start up screen appears.
7 Continue with the installation as prompted.
8 After the installation is completed, connect the sub-woofer to the computer using the USB cable.
Verifying the installation of device drivers
After you have installed the device drivers as explained in the previous section, follow the steps below to verify that Windows 98 recognizes these drivers.
* Select “Start,” then select “Settings --> Control Panel” from the menu.
* Double-click “System” in the control Panel to display the “System Properties” panel, select the “Device Manager” tab, then select “View devices by type.”
* Click the plus sign (+) for “Human Interface Devices,” “Sound, video and game controllers,” and “Universal Serial Bus Controller” in the device list, and check to see if “Human Interface Devices,” “YAMAHA YST-MS35D USB Audio,” and “YAMAHA YST-MS35D USB Composite Device”
Note: If an exclamation point (!), or a question mark (?) appears to the left of the USB device name,
check the following:

* Make sure that you have installed the drivers from the included CD-ROM.
* Check to see if the USB cable is connected securely.
* The AC adapter plug is connected to the AC receptacle.

SERVICE MODE
Checking the Code Version
Check the MCU code version and checksum after entering SVC Mode.
Entering SVC Mode
> Adjust the Brightness and Contrast values to 0.
> Hold down the Enter button for five (5) seconds.
> The SVC Function OSD is displayed.
> To exit the SVC Function, turn the power off.
Safe Mode
When the input signal is higher than the supported frequency of the product, safe mode gives users some time (one minute) to change the video card settings to the Recommended Mode settings.
Press the [ -- ] button to move to other items.
Press the [ -- ] button to change the setting to On or Off.
When replacing the panel
After replacing the panel, move to the Panel item and hold down the Menu button for fie (5) seconds.
The Ch. No is incremented by 1 and then both the On Time and Cycle are set to 0.
* When the raster does not appear: The Function PCB, Main PCB, I/P PBA
* When 5V is generated but a blank screen is displayed: Main PCB
* When 5V is not generated: I/P PBA
“Press the MENU button and hold down the, “ (Enter, Source)” button for more than fie (5) seconds to return the monitor to factory mode.

* Attach the adjusting screw to the upper chassis (See Figure 1.).
* Insert the test CD (TCD-784M) into the disc No.1 position and play it.
* After checking whether the disc is centred on the turntable, turn the adjusting screw unit it is in the center.
Check Items
1 Check that the disc is correctly centered.
2 Check that the disc is securely clamped.
3 Check that no abnormal noise is produced when clamping the disc.
Directions of Turning the Adjusting Screw
* CD stops before its proper position: Turn the screw counter-clockwise.
* CD overruns: Turn the screw clockwise.
* After the adjustment, lock the screw.

Never try to perform initialization unless you have changed the memory IC.

SELECTING THE ADJUSTING ITEMS
Every pressing of CHANNEL UP button in the service mode changes the adjustment items. (DN button for reverse order)
ADJUSTING THE DATA
 Pressing of VOLUME  +/–  button will change the value of data in the range from 00H to FFH. The variable range depends on the adjusting item.
EXIT FROM SERVICE MODE
Pressing POWER button to turn off the TV once.
INITIALIZATION OF MEMORY DATA OF QA02
After replacing QA02, the following initialization is required.
* Enter the service mode, then select any register item.
* Press and hold the CALL button on the Remote, then press the CHANNEL s button on the TV. The initialization of QA02 has been completed.
* Check the picture carefully. If necessary, adjust any adjustment item above.  * Perform “Auto search Memory” on the owner’s manual.
CAUTION: Never attempt to initialize the data unless QA02 has been replaced.
TEST SIGNAL SELECTION
Every pressing of ‘Power’  button on the Remote Control changes the built-in test patterns on screen as described below in SERVICE MODE
Signal off  >  PAL signals (5 patterns) > NTSC signals (5 patterns) & repeats
SELF DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
Press “9” button on Remote Control during display of adjustment menu in the service mode.  The diagnosis will begin to check if interface among IC’s are executed properly.
Indicated color of mode now selected : Green and Red
Indicated color of other modes : Black
Green :Normal
Red : The microcomputer operates to provide judgment of no video signal. The red color is still indicated though the signal is input, failure may exist in input signal line including QV01.

Operation number of protecting circuit ----“00” is normal.
When indication is other than “00”, over current apts to
flow, and circuit parts may possibly be damaged.
