 How to enter Service Mode - SONY KV-2168MT _ SONY KV – 2169MNT

Remote control: RM-870



ENTERING INTO SERVICE MODE

With the unit in standby mode

Press [DISPLAY]à[5]à [VOL+]à [POWER]

This operation puts the unit into service mode.

The screen now shows

In this display, ‘08’ is the item number, ‘VSF’ is the item name, ‘0C’ is the item data, ‘SERVICE’ shows the service mode, ‘0000’ and’1000’ are binary data and ‘50’ shows, PAL, SECAM’ (60) for NTSC

Service Mode Adjustments

  1. Put the TV set into Service Mode.
  2. Press [1](up) and [4] (down), to select an item for adjustment.
  3. Press [3](Up) and [6] (Down), to raise or lower the value of the selected item.
  4. Press ‘Muting” button, and it will indicate [Write] on the screen.
  5. Press[0] button to write the value on the memory.

Service Mode Keys

In the service mode, following remote handset keys can be used.

  1. [1] & [4] Select adjustment mode.
  2. [3] & [6] Raise or lower the data value.
  3. [Muting] to write.
  4. [0], To execute writing.
  5. [7] & [0], All the data becomes the values in the memory.
  6. [8] & [0].  All user control goes to the standard state.
  7. [5] & [0].  Service data initialization. (Use this option sparingly).
  8. [2]&[0].  Write 50Hz adjustment data, to 60Hz or vice versa.

Service Mode Adjustment Method.

  1. In the service mode, select [08] (vertical shift) [as an example]
  2. Raise or lower the data value with [3] and [6] buttons.
  3. Select the optimum state. [Default value for PAL reception is “0F’].
  4. Write with ‘Muting Button’. (The service display changes to ‘write’)
  5. Execute writing with [0] button. The write display will change to ‘Red’ color while executing, and changes back to ‘SERVICE’.  Use the same method for all items.  Use [1] and [4] to select the adjustment item, and [3] and [6] to raise or lower the selected data value, write with ‘Muting’ and then execute the write with [0].
  6. During the Write operation, the data with all items are written into the memory together.

Adjustment after IC 003[MEMORY] Replacement.

  1. Enter to service mode.
  2. Press [5] and [0] buttons (Data initialize) on remote handset.  Next press [2] and [0] (Data Copy) to initialize data.
  3. Call each item number and check if the respective screen shows the normal picture.  In case where items are not well adjusted, rectify them with the fine adjustment.  Write the data for each item number by pressing [Muting]&[0].
  4. Select item numbers “2B”(OP0) and “2C” (OP1) and “41”(OP0) and “42”(OP1), for stereo, and respectively set the bit per model with remote handset buttons [3] & [6].
  5. Press handset buttons [8] & [0] (Test Normal) to return to the data that set on the shipment from the factory. [This will also cancel the service mode]

White Balance Adjustment

  1. Put the set into service mode.
  2. Input entire white signal.
  3. Set the picture to maximum.
  4. Select RDR (09) WITH [1] & [4], and set the level to 25 with [3] & [6].
  5. Select GDR(0A) and BDR (0B)  with [1] and [4] and adjust the level with [3] and [6]  for best white balance.
  6. Write into memory , by pressing [MUTING] and then [0] button.
