These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

SERVICE MODE 
Entering Factory Mode
To enter ‘Service Mode’ Press the remote -control keys in this sequence :
If you do not have Factory remote - control
INFO > MENU > MUTE > Power on
If you have Factory remote - control
INFO > FACTORY
The buttons are active in the service mode.
1. Remote - Control Key : Power, Arrow Up, Arrow Down, Arrow Left Arrow Right, Menu, Enter, Number Key(0~9)
2. Function - Control Key : Power, CH +, CH -, VOL +, VOL -, Menu, TV/VIDEO(Enter)
Method of Color Calibration (AV)
1) Apply the NTSC Lattice (N0. 3) pattern signal to the AV IN 1 port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “AV1" mode
3) Enter Service mode
4) Select the “Calibration" menu
5) Select the “AV Calibration" menu.
6) In “AV Calibration Off" status, press the “ > " key to perform Calibration.
7) When Calibration is complete, it returns to the high-level menu.
8) You can see the change of the “AV Calibration" status from Failure to Success.
Method of Color Calibration (Component)
1) Apply the 720p Lattice (N0. 6) pattern signal to the Component IN 1 port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “Component1" mode
3) Enter Service mode
4) Select the “Calibration" menu
5) Select the “Comp Calibration" menu.
6) In “Comp Calibration Off" status, press the “  > " key to perform Calibration.
7) When Calibration is complete, it returns to the high-level menu.
8) You can see the change of the “Comp Calibration" status from Failure to Success.
Method of Color Calibration (PC)
1) Apply the VESA XGA Lattice (N0. 21) pattern signal to the PC IN port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “PC" mode
3) Enter Service mode
4) Select the “Calibration" menu
5) Select the “PC Calibration" menu.
6) In “PC Calibration Off" status, press the “ > " key to perform Calibration.
7) When Calibration is complete, it returns to the high-level menu.
8) You can see the change of the “PC Calibration" status from Failure to Success.
Method of Color Calibration (HDMI)
1) Apply the 720p Lattice (N0. 6) pattern signal to the HDMI1/DVI IN port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “HDMI1" mode
3) Enter Service mode
4) Select the “Calibration" menu
5) Select the “HDMI Calibration" menu.
6) In “HDMI Calibration Off" status, press the “ > " key to perform Calibration.
7) When Calibration is complete, it returns to the high-level menu.
8) You can see the change of the “HDMI Calibration" status from Failure to Success.
Troubleshooting
1. Check the various cable connections first.
# Check to see if there is a burnt or damaged cable.
# Check to see if there is a disconnected or loose cable connection.
# Check to see if the cables are connected according to the connection diagram.
2. Check the power input to the Main Board.
Check internal Pattern lola3 if fhere is some picture noise.
Factory mode(Info-MENU-Mute-power on > Advanced menu > MST69A84HQ > Pattern select : Off Press right button of Remocon. If lola3 NG, Change the Main Board.
No Power
Symptom
The LEDs on the front panel do not work when connecting the power cord.
The SMPS relay does not work when connecting the power cord.
The units appears to be dead.
Checkpoints
The IP relay or the LEDs on the front panel does not work when connecting the power cord if the cables are improperly connected or the Main Board or SMPS is not functioning. In this case, check the following:
Check the internal cable connection status inside the unit.
Check the fuses of each part.
Check the output voltage of SMPS.
Replace the Main Board.
No Video (Analog PC signal)
Symptom
 Audio is normal but no picture is displayed on the screen.
Checkpoints
Check the PC source
Check the M-star
This may happen when the LVDS cable connecting the Main Board and the Panel is disconnected.
No Video (Tuner_CVBS)
Symptom
Audio is normal but no picture is displayed on the screen.
Checkpoints
Check the Tuner CVBS source
Check the M-star
This may happen when the LVDS cable connecting the Main Board and the Panel is disconnected.
No Video (HDMI - Digital Signal)
Symptom
Audio is normal but no picture is displayed on the screen.
Checkpoints
Check the HDMI source
Check the M-star
This may happen when the LVDS cable connecting the Main Board and the Panel is disconnected.
No Sound
Symptom
Video is normal but there is no sound.
Checkpoints
When the speaker connectors are disconnected or damaged.
When the sound processing part of the Main Board is not functioning.
Speaker defect.
ICs USED IN SMPS 
FAN7530
DESCRIPTION
The FAN7530 is an active power factor correction (PFC) controller for the boost PFC applications that operates in critical conduction mode (CRM). It uses the voltage mode PWM that compares an internal ramp signal with the error amplifier output to generate MOSFET turn-off signal. Because the voltage mode CRM PFC controller does not need the rectified AC line voltage information, it can save the power loss of the input voltage sensing net- work necessary for the current mode CRM PFC controller.
FAN753O provides many protection functions such as over voltage protection, open-feedback protection, over- current protection, and under-voltage lockout protection. The FAN7530 can be disabled if the INV pin voltage is lower than 0.45\/ and the operating current decreases to 65uA. Using a new variable on-time control method, THD is lowerthan the conventional CRM boost PFC lCs.
PIN CONFIGURATION
1 INV - This pin is the inverting input of the error amplifier. The output voltage of the boost PFC converter should be resistively divided to 2.5V.
2 MOT -  This pin is used to set the slope of the internal ramp. The voltage of this pin is main- tained at 3V. If a resistor is connected between this pin and GND, current flows out of the pin and the slope of the internal ramp is proportional to this current.
3 COMP -  This pin is the output of the transconductance error amplifier. Components for the out- put voltage compensation should be connected between this pin and GND.
4 CS - This pin is the input of the over-current protection comparator. The MOSFET current is sensed using a sensing resistor and the resulting voltage is applied to this pin. An internal RC filter is included to filter switching noise.
5 ZCD -  This pin is the input of the zero current detection block. If the voltage of this pin goes higherthan 1.5V, then goes lowerthan 1.4V, the MOSFET is turned on.
6 GND -  This pin is used for the ground potential of all the pins. For proper operation, the signal ground and the power ground should be separated.
7 OUT -  This pin is the gate drive output. The peak sourcing and sinking current levels are +500mA and -800mA respectively. For proper operation, the stray inductance in the gate driving path must be minimized.
8 Vcc -  This pin is the IC supply pin. lC current and MOSFET drive current are supplied using this pin.

Description
The CoolSET-F3R jitter series (ICE3BRxx65J) is the latest version of CoolSET-F3. It targets for the Off-Line battery adapters and low cost SMPS for lower power range such as application for DVD R/W, DVD Combi, Blue ray DVD player, set top box, etc. Besides inherited the outstanding performance of the CoolSET-F3 in the BiCMOS technology, active burst mode, auto-restart protection, propagation delay compensation, etc., CoolSET-F3R series has some new features such as built-in soft start time, built-in blanking window, built-in frequency jitter, soft gate driving, etc. In case a longer blanking time is needed for high load application, a simple addition of capacitor to BA pin can serve the purpose. Furthermore, an external auto-restart enable feature can provide extra protection when there is a need of immediate stop of power switching.
