These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

General advice for LCD LED TV repair
Possible Fault Findings

- PHILIPS 32PHT5301 does not turn on, front panel indicators are not lit or blinking. The TV set does not respond to control buttons and remote control.

In such cases, the power supply 715G7734 is usually found to be defective. The output voltages should be measured and if not, the power switches (TK6A65D) of the converters and the rectifier diodes should be checked for faults.
If the semiconductors in the secondary circuits break down, the inverter can usually be short-circuited and the mains fuse is often blown when a short circuit occurs in the power elements of the primary circuit.
Mos-Fet switches used in switched-mode power supplies usually fail due to the failure of other elements that can make it fail in key mode, or cause it to exceed the maximum current or voltage values. These may be the circuits supplying the PWM controller, the damping or frequency-retaining circuits, or the negative feedback elements in the stabilisation circuit. PF6005AS PWM controllers, if there is no external damage or short circuit between the terminals, check by replacing them with a known good one.

- No display, but sound is present and responds to remote control. Or the image appears at power on and immediately disappears

In this case backlight of LED panel is defective. Often the cause is a breakage of LEDs, or poor contact in the connectors plates, less often faulty may be the LED-driver.
When diagnosing, please note that it is not possible to check for an open circuit in the LED strip circuit without disassembling the panel using a tester or multimeter. To open all PN-junctions connected in series, you will need a voltage of about several tens of volts, and ideally a current source. Once the panel is opened, each LED can be tested separately. Typically, Chinese multimeters will light up a single 3 volt LED slightly when the probes are connected in a forward direction. For twin 6 volt LEDs, the PN junction of its fault stabiliser can be an indicator of the correct operation of the LED. If the LED is faulty, it is either open or short-circuited.

- The TV does not turn on, the LED indicates standby or operation mode, or blinks.

If the PHILIPS 32PHT5301 has no picture but sound, often the backlight of the TPT315B5-WHBN0.K REV:S8D62E display simply does not work. Moreover, in LED TVs the LEDs inside the panel usually fail, less often the LED driver.
In such cases it is possible to see a faintly visible image when external light hits the screen.

Disassembly of the TPT315B5-WHBN0.K LCD panel is required to replace the LED's, a process which requires a great deal of experience and skill. Do not attempt this procedure yourself; it is not recommended for TV owners or craftsmen lacking experience in LCD panel repair

If there is no image, but backlighting works - the screen becomes slightly lighter when the TV is switched on and you can see the light through the holes in the panel body when the TV is open.
In this case the panel may be defective - damage to the boards, cables, for example, as a consequence of moisture after an unsuccessful washing of the screen, the T-CON board (Timing Controller) may be defective. But in many cases the MainBoard 715G8198-M01-B00-004T is defective, or there may be a software problem.
Then first it is necessary to check the panel supply voltage, the fuses on the T-CON board, and the supply and reference voltages of the column and line drivers - VGH, VGL, Vcom.
If these measurements are within normal limits, you need to trace with an oscilloscope the LVDS signals from MainBoard 715G8198-M01-B00-004T, as well as synchronizing signals to driver stubs.

Flooded or badly washed LED TV screens can be repaired in about half of all cases, usually if no significant damage has occurred to the panel stubs and strips.

Repair or diagnosis of the motherboard 715G8198-M01-B00-004T should begin with checking the stabilizers and power converters needed to power the chips and matrix. Software (software) should be updated or replaced if necessary. Difficult repairs to the MB (SSB) can only be carried out in a service centre with the necessary equipment. Sometimes a software failure can be the cause of a malfunctioning tuner.

Once again, TV users are cautioned not to attempt repairs themselves, unless they have the knowledge, experience and expertise to do so. Entrust repairs to professionals with sufficient experience in the field of electronics repair.

Reduce backlight current from 1A to 700mA - removed two resistors (R8655 2 Ohm and R8654 1.2 Ohm) in the driver current sensor on board 715G7734-P01-003-002H near the backlight connector.

PHILIPS 32PHT5301 LCD TV with TPT315B5-WHBN0.K, measuring 32" (81cm) diagonally in 16:9 aspect ratio. A brightness output of 280 cd/m² is provided by an LED backlight. The model's display technology uses LED backlighting.
The TPT315B5-WHBN0.K matrix and MainBoard software 715G8198-M01-B00-004T provide high quality HD viewing at a resolution of 1366x768 pixels in 720p (HD Ready).
32PHT5301 is equipped with SMART software and internet connectivity. Networking can be achieved using Wi-Fi wireless connectivity. Supported media formats are MP3, WMA, MPEG4, HEVC (H.265), MKV, JPEG.
The sound system has a capacity of 16W (2x8W) and is powered by two speakers. NICAM stereo processing and Sound Surround surround function are used.

Warning. The TPT315B5-WHBN0.K REV:S8D62E is an expensive and fragile part of your PHILIPS 32PHT5301 LED TV.
Avoid all impacts to the glass and pressure on the surface of the screen to avoid damage to the LED panel!
It is also not safe to get liquids on the screen. Sometimes a single drop is enough if it drips down the glass onto the cables and the television becomes unrepairable.
