These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Fuse FS801S (6.3A0 blows off frequently
VX801X [INR10D-751], BD 801 [RS605M], DP 801 [UF540], QP801 [FCPH20L60], CP 803 [150MFD-450V], CP 801 [1MFD-630V]
Check these components for short circuit.
FUSE FS803 BLOWS OFF FREQUENTLY
IC 801X [VIPER22A], DS851 [SB 5100], CS 852 [470MFD-10V], ZENER DIODE ZD 853 [6V2-Z].
Check the Zener diode ZD 852 for short.  A common fault.
RM 801 (OE 22), OVERHEATS AND BURNS.
CM 801 [100KPF-630V ], ICM 801 [F9222L]
Short of F9222l short is a common fault.
300VDC ACROSS CP 803 IS MISSING OR LOWER THAN NORMAL
FS801[6.3A], VX801X [INR10D-751], NT 811S [NTC5D-15], BD 801S [RS 605M].  check all these components out from the circuit board.
PICTURE OR RASTER SHAKING HORIZONTALLY [ This is a common fault to most of the LCD TVs]
CP803 [150MFD-400V]  Replace this capacitor.  This is the main smoothing capacitor to rectified main DC voltage.

NO OUTPUT FROM S.B SUPPLY


Check 300V across CP803 [150MFD/450V], FS 803 (2A), IC 801X (VIPER 22A), BZS 803 (MD1), CS 802 (22MFD/50V), DS 802 (UF4007S). DS 803 (UF 4007S), CS 806 (68MFD/63V) PS 804S(WK707), TS 801S, DS 851 (SB500), CS 852 (470MFD/10V), D853 (6V2 – ZENER DIODE).   Check all these components before switch On the set.  Make sure that all are good,  If there is any component stated above suspected, replace them.

S.B SUPPLY VOLTAGE LESS.

ZDTS 851 (KIA431A), PS804S (WK707), RS 866 (6K8), RS 861 (5K6), RS 862 (33K), ICS801X (VIPER22A).

S.B SUPPLY MORE THAN NORMAL.

PS 804S(WK707), ZDTS 851 (KIA431A), RS 860 (6K8), RS 813 (4.7 OHMS), ICS 801X (VIPER22A).

S.B SUPPLY IS OK, BUT OTHER SUPPLIES ARE LOW OR MISSING.

You have to check well all the below stated components on the power board.  If can, Isolate it from the power board, and check it individually, because, on-board check with multimeter won’t get perfect results.

R 852 (3K3), RS 851 (IK), QS 851 (ZG), RS 803 ( I OHM), DS 803 (RF4007), CS 806 (68MFD/63V), PS 801S (WK707), QS801 (C1008), RS 805 (150 OHMS/2W), QS803 (C1008), RS 908 (2.2 K.OHMS), CS 808 (47MFD/50V), ZDS 806 (WP), CM 810 (47MFD/50V), DM 805 (5K.OHMS), CM 813 (10MFD/50V), ICM801S (F9222L), RM 801 (0.22 OHM), PS 803S (WK707), ZDTM851 (KIA431A).

12 VOLT AND 13 VOLT POWER SUPPLY OUTPUTS ARE MISSING


DM853 [FCH 10A10], CM 856 [1500 MFD/25V]..

12 VOLT POWER SUPPLY OUTPUT IS MISSING.

FM 851 [KRG030], ICM 853 [KIA 278R12P1], RM 858 [10K OHMS], CM 858 [470 MFD/25V].

5 VOLT POWER SUPPLY OUTPUT IS MISSING.

ICM 852 [MC 33167T], DM 854 [EN 220A], CM 861 [2200 MFD/10V], DZM 853 [5V6-Z ZENER DIODE SHORT], DZM 852 [WP], QM 851 [ZG].

24 VOLT POWER SUPPLY OUTPUT IS MISSING.

DM 851 [EN 220A], CM 851 [1500 MFD/35V], DZM 853 [5V6-Z ZENER DIODE SHORT], DZM 852 [WP], CM 852 [1500 MFD/35V].

ALL OUTPUT POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGES ARE LESS THAN NORMAL, AND S.B POWER SUPPLY OTPUT IS OK.

PS 803S [WK 707], ZDTM 851 [KIA431A], ZDM 803 [5V1-Z ZENER DIODE], QM 802 [ZHOG], QM 803 [ZHOG], QM 803 [ZHOG], DM 803 [0E2 OHMS/2W], ICM 801S [F9222L].

ALL POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGES ARE EXCESS THAN NOMRAL, AND S.B POWER SUPPLY OUTPUT IS OK.

DZ 852 [WS], DZS 851 [WB], DS 852 [B31D], RS 855 [100 OHMS], QS 852 [ZG, RS 854 [100 OHMS], PS 802S [WK 707], RS 810 [4.7 OHMS], PS 803S [WK 707], RM 857 [750 OHMS], ZDTM 851 [KIA 431A], RM 855 [2.4 K OHMS], RM 814 [3.3K OHMS], RM 813 [100K OHMS], DZM 803 [5V1-Z ZENER DIODE].
