REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

NO DISC DISPLAY WITH CD /DVD PLAYERS

NO DISC DISPLAY WITH CD /DVD PLAYERS

There are mainly three reasons for this fault.  The first one is of Damaged Disc.  The second one is improper disc loading or disc does not spin inside. The third one is of its laser pickup unit trouble.

To make sure, insert a new disc into the player, and inspect the result.  If it does not read this disc, either the disc does not spins inside it, of the laser pickup unit is faulty or dirty.

First, open its top cover, Power ON the set and insert a  disc in it.  Note whether the player loads the disc properly into;  and disc starts spins, and the laser pickup unit tries to track the burned tracks on the CD.

You can see the tracking of laser pickup unit. The unit will go outward end of the disc first, and will come back to its original starting position.  This process is known as reading.  If disc do not spin inside it, the laser unit can’t track the recordings, and it will try to read it two or more times again, and will halt at last.  The display will show No Disc.

If the disc do not spins inside the player, make sure that the sled motor has damaged, or it do not get proper voltage.  The sled motor in one, which locks up the disc we insert into, with a magnetic catcher.  This is a stepper motor, and cost not much.  But replacing it is a skilled job, as you have to disassemble and reassemble the while mechanism.

Insert a cleaning disc [which can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town].  Play it for at least 3 times, by taking it ejected out from the player, and reinserting.  If the fault is due to dirt accumulated on the lens of the laser pickup unit, this process the cleaning disc will clean it up, and your player will be all right now.  If it does not help you, make sure that the laser pickup unit is damaged.  When replacing this unit, insist on same type and number of laser unit.  Never try to use an other number; sometimes it may not work properly.

When replacing the laser pickup unit, replace the strip wire that goes from the laser pickup unit to the main board of the player too.  This strip has carbon-conducting tracks, and as it has to go with the tracking of the laser pickup unit to and fro always when the player is in use, the carbon conduction patch inside it may get beaked.  So it is best to replace this strip along with laser pickup unit.
