These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

HOW TO ENTER SERVICE MODE TO ARISTONA - APEX - AKIRA - ALBA - AKAI - TOSHIBA & JVC TVs




ARISTONA GR2.4 63TA71111
  • Turn on television, press menu and hold and press menu on TV panel.
  • Press colored button to select item.
  • To change settings press volume up to increase and down to decrease value settings
ARISTONA MD1.2E
  • To reset to default mode connect pin 42 and 43 together on small signal board #SSB#.
  • Save and exit press power button on remote control go to standby mode.
APEX CN12C2, GT15 GT20 GT24 GT27 GT32
  • Decrease the volume to no sound, press the quality button on the remote control, and the mute button on TV panel simultaneously.
  • S will appear on the TV screen indicating the service mode state.
  • To save the settings and exit from the factory mode press the standby button on the remote control.

  • Press the numbers [one and two] to go to a twelve channel.
  • Press the number [three and eight] to go to thirty-eight channels.
  • Press menu, menu lock and press mute and then enter the numbers [one, two, three, and eight.] 
  • Factory mode will open and you are ready to make further arrangements.

  • Press the [volume down and volume up] simultaneously on the TV when it is off and then hold the button and turn on the television.
  •  Factory mode will open.
  • Be careful and there should be no mistake, if there is a mistake entering the data will be damaged TV system. 
  • Always record the system data before make further arrangements.

  • Enter into the main menu and press the number 4725 in quick succession within the interval 5 seconds.
  • Menu option press the red button, blue, green and yellow.
  • To save the changes and press the ok button.
  • To exit the factory mode press the Menu key.

  • Go to menu function.
  • In menu mode you press the number 4,7,2,5 on the remote control.
  • Service mode will appear.
  • To select the menu option press red, green, blue and yellow buttons in the remote control.
  • To change the value press Vol + / -.
  • Press OK button to store all settings. 
  • To Exit from factory mode press Menu button.
TOSHIBA
  • Press mute on remote control and menu on Toshiba TV panel Simultaneously
  • Press menu on Toshiba Remote, input these number (4, 7, 2, 5)
  • Press Volume down on TV panel, press and hold key [9] on Remote control.
TOSHIBA
  • Press MUTE button on control remote.
  • Press mute button again to keep pressing.
  • While pressing the mute button, press MENU button on TV set.
  • The adjustment menu will be displayed. 
  • Press menu button on TV, [S] displaying on top corner of the screen.
  • TV (ANT)/VIDEO button (On TV) : A single horizontal line ON/OFF
  • TV (ANT)/VIDEO button (on remote control) : Test signal selection.
  • Channel up/down (on TV or remote control) : Selection of the adjustment items.
  • Volume up/down (on TV or remote control) : Change of the data value.
  • Menu button (on TV) : Adjustment menu mode ON/OFF
  • RECALL + Channel up button on TV : Initialization of the memory (QA02)
  • RECALL + Channel down button on TV : Initialization of the self diagnostic data.
TOSHIBA
  • Without menu on TV panel; Press AV & F Simultaneously.
  • Enter this code [1, 0, 4,8].
  • Factory mode will be displayed.
  • To change value use volume key.
  • To select parameters use program key.
JVC
  • Simultaneously press DISPLAY and VIDEO STATUS on remote control .
  • To select items, press MENU UP / DOWN (upload / download).
  •  To change values, MENU LEFT / RIGHT .
  • To exit factory mode press EXIT.
