These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

SOFTWARE UPDATE
The adjustment is according to the order which is designated and which must be followed, according to the plan which can be changed only on agreeing.
  • Power Adjustment: Free Voltage
  • Magnetic Field Condition: Nil.
  • Input signal Unit: Product Specification Standard
  • Reserve after operation: Above 5 Minutes (Heat Run). Temperature: at 25±5ºC. Relative humidity: 65±10%. Input voltage : 220V, 60Hz
  • Adjustment equipments: Color Analyzer (CA-210 or CA-110), Pattern Generator (MSPG-925L or Equivalent), DDC Adjustment Jig equipment, SVC remote controller.
  • Push The “IN STOP KEY” - For memory initialization.
Case1: Software version up
After downloading S/W by USB, TV set will reboot automatically.
Push “In-stop” key
Push “Power on” key
Function inspection
After function inspection, push “I n-stop” key.
Case2: Function check at the assembly line
When TV set is entering on the assembly line, Push “In-stop” key at first.
Push “Power on” key for turning it on. If you push “Power on” key, TV set will recover channel information by itself.
After function inspection, Push “In-stop” key.
BOOT FILE DOWNLOAD
  • Execute ISP program “Mstar ISP Utility” and then click “Config” tab.
  • Set as below, and then click “Auto Detect” and check “OK” message.  If “Error” is displayed, Check connection between computer, jig, and set.
  • Click “Read” tab, and then load download file (XXXX.bin) by clicking “Read”.
CLICK ON THE PICTURES TO ZOOM
  • Click “Connect” tab. If “Can’t” is displayed, check connection between computer, jig, and set.
  • Click “Auto” tab and set as below
  • Click “Run”.
  • After downloading, check “OK” message.
USB DOWNLOAD (.epk file download)
  • Put the USB Stick to the USB socket.
  • Automatically detecting update file in USB Stick.  If your downloaded program version in USB Stick is Low, it didn’t work. But your downloaded version is High, USB data is automatically detecting.
  • Show the message “Copying files from memory”
Updating is staring.
After updating is complete, The TV will restart automatically.
If TV turns on, check your updated version and Tool option.  If downloading version is higher than your TV have, TV can lost all channel data. In this case, you have to channel recover. If all channel data is cleared, you didn’t have a DTV/ATV test on production line.
After downloading, have to adjust Tool Option again.
Push "IN-START" key in service remote controller.
Select "Tool Option 1" and Push “OK” button.
Punch in the number. (Each model has their number.)
