These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

25 POINT ADJUSTMENTS


Prepare setting for adjusting PC
  • Create folder and copy files listed below for Excel data processing.
  • Create a folder directly onto the C Drive. C:/25PDATA
  • Copy the files and create the data folder listed below into the "25PDATA" folder.
  • 25P Adjustment Data Procssing.xls
  • Grid.exe
  • grid.ini
  • import.prm
  • data folder (C:\25DATA\data)
  • Adjustment processing result will be saved in the data folder automatically ("S/N" xls).’
Prepare setting of Excel
  • Start up the Visual Basic Editor by selecting "Tool" - "Macro" -> "Visual Basic Editor".
  • Select "Reference Setting" from "Tool".
  • Put a check mark on "SOLVER" in available references.
  • If .SOLVER.xla. doesn.t exist or does not show in references, press .reference. to select .SOLVER.xla..SOLVER.xla. should be in C\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Library\Solver.
EXPLANATION OF 25-POINT CALIBRATION

To start performing 25-point Calibration
  • Start up .LtabMon S. (Make sure the Touch Driver is not running.)
  • Press 'Sampling' Detailed sampling data box will appear.
  • Start up 'Grid.exe'
  • While touching the cross point in the top left corner with the touch pen, press .Capture (Enter Key).
  • Move to right one section and press 'Capture (Enter key)'. Repeat the same procedure to get calibration data from 5 points.
  • Move to far left corner in the second row, repeat the same procedure from left to right to get calibration data.  Collect data from all 25 points.
  • When you finish with the last point, press .Save.
  • Right-click to close 'Grid'
  • RES.dat will be saved in 25PDATA folder in C drive.
Excel data processing (Make sure the setting has been prepared before hand.)
  • Start up .25P Adjustment Data Procssing.xls. (Macro).
  • Select a number for adjusting model.
  • 1:50 inch TY-TP50P10S
  • 2:42 inch TY-TP42P10S
  • 3:58 inch TY-TP58P10S
  • 4:65 inch TY-TP65P10S
  • Process the aquired data. Press .RES - RES0.  Press .OK. According to the message dialog box.
  • Perform the data validation and defrag.  Press 'Validation & Initialization & Defrag'
  1. Press 'DATA - Export' to save result of the calibration.
  2. The data will be saved as 'importf.prm' in 25PDATA folder.
  3. Press 'Exit' to quit.
  4. Enter products serial number when asked for S/N.
  5. S/N.xls. will be saved in 25PDATA folder.
  6. Import the aquired data.
  7. Press 'Parameter' in LTabMonS.

  • Press 'Load File' to open 'importf.prm' file saved in 25PDATA folder.
  • The result will be imported and reflect to each parameter.
  • Press 'Write to ROM' to write.
  • Exit 'LtabMon' to finish.
PRECISE CALIBRATION
  • Make sure the LtabMonS is not running. Start up the 'Touch Driver'
  • Press 'precise calibration' from the driver.s setup panel.
  • “precise calibration” dialog box will appear.
  • Press”OK”.
  • Touch the “X” marker in the top right corner (shown in yellow) with the touch pen to stop.
  • When the driver capture XY coordinates, the yellow “X” marker moves one to right.
  • Capture XY coordinate for each "X" marker shown in yellow.
  • Get data from all 25 points.
  • When you finish collecting data from all points, the calibration result will be asked.
  • Then press ‘OK’ to exit.
CHECK FOR CALIBRATING RESULT [TEST]
  • Exit the driver.s setup panel, and touch any marker to test.
  • Point positions should not be too far off. It should be whithin 5 mm.
  • In order to test, set the setting to 0 (zero) in the “Allowance for point position differences” in the setup panel of Touch Driver.
