REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!
Today, the West is headed for the abyss. For the ultimate fate of our disposable society is for that society itself to be disposed of. And this will happen sooner, rather than later.

SERVICE MODE AND SOFTWARE UPDATE

Service Procedure
HOW TO ENTER TO SERVICE MODE
Press ATV Menu and "1950" of Remote Control.
Software Upgrade
a) E2P upgradation using USB:-
Steps for E2P upgradation by USB (pen drive):
1. Copy the E2p_dump.bin file from computer to USB. Ensure the file is for the intended panel for which you want program the board.
2. Keep the set in ON condition.
3. Plug in the USB in USB port of TV Set.
4. Press ATV Menu key and press "1950" of Remote Control.
5. Then we will enter in factory MENU
6. Select setup & press the OK key of the Remote Control
Press ATV Menu key and press "1950" of Remote Control.
7. “ON” the” M_MODE” through Right or Left navigation key on remote.
8. Select E2P settings .
 9. Press the OK key of Remote control then you will enter in E2P Settings Menu. Press the down navigation key of Remote Control & Select E2P Full Erase.
10. Press OK Key & wait up to display the E2P erase success message
11. Press the up navigation key of Remote Control & Select E2P Upgrade.
12. Press OK Key & wait up to display the E2P Upgrade Completed message.
13. If message is “Operation not allowed”, press Back key on remote control & confirm M mode is ON. If M mode is OFF, do ON.
14. If message is “Device not found”, insert USB properly and then do E2P upgrade.
15. Press EXIT key on remote.
16. Wait for few seconds. Now mains OFF & ON the TV set.
17. Press ATV Menu on Remote Control. Select Setup > Software Settings > Check e2p version
b) SW installation using USB :-
steps for Software upgrading of .sdl file by USB:
1. Crete "PHILIPS“ folder in USB & Copy the .sdl file in Philips folder.
2. Connect the USB in the TV.
3. During Bootup, when first LED will glow then OFF or Color Change then immediately ,
press the Remote control keys sequence asPower-> UP Navigation-> Down Navigation-> Down Navigation.
4. Wait few sec TV will powered on . If key sequence is properly detected by TV at start then
below screen will appear & SW loading will be started:
5.When software is successfully installed, message will appear.
Error while Software upgradation:
1. Can’t collect download header – Check .sdl file is present in Philips folder in USB. Philips folder Should contain ONLY .sdl file. Philips folder should NOT BE inside any other folder.
2. Load version not within window – Software will not be upgraded by USB. You will have to use jig for Freeman. By jig, e-uploader tool, install CPCB erase file, then do above procedure.

A8293 Single LNB Supply and Control Voltage Regulator

Intended for analog and digital satellite receivers, this single low noise block converter regulator (LNBR) is a monolithic linear and switching voltage regulator, specifically designed to provide the power and the interface signals to an LNB down converter via coaxial cable. The A8293 requires few external components, with the boost switch and compensation circuitry integrated inside of the device. A high switching frequency is chosen to minimize the size of the passive filtering components, further assisting in cost reduction. The high levels of component integration ensure extremely low noise and ripple figures. The A8293 has been designed for high efficiency, utilizing the Allegro advanced BCD process. The integrated boost switch has been optimized to minimize both switching and
static losses. To further enhance efficiency, the voltage drop across the tracking regulator has been minimized. For DiSEqC communications, several schemes are available for generating tone signals, all the way down to no-load, and using either the internal clock or an external time source.
The A8293 solution contains a tracking current-mode boost converter and linear regulator. The boost converter tracks the requested LNB voltage to within 800 mV, to minimize power dissipation. Under conditions where the input voltage, VBOOST, is greater than the output voltage, VLNB, the linear regulator must drop the differential voltage. When operating in these conditions, care must be taken to ensure that the safe operating temperature range of the A8293 is not exceeded. The boost converter operates at 352 kHz typical: 16 times the internal 22 kHz tone frequency. All the loop compensation, current sensing, and slope compensation functions are provided internally. The A8293 has internal pulse-by-pulse current limiting on the boost converter and DC current limiting on the LNB output to protect the IC against short circuits. When the LNB output is shorted, the LNB output current is limited to 700 mA typical, and the IC will be shut down if the overcurrent condition lasts for more than 48 ms. If this occurs, the A8293 must be reenabled for normal operation. The system should provide sufficient time between successive restarts to limit internal power dissipation; a minimum of 2 s is recommended. At extremely light loads, the boost converter operates in a pulse-skipping mode. Pulse skipping occurs when the BOOST voltage rises to approximately 450 mV above the BOOST target output voltage. Pulse skipping stops when the BOOST voltage drops 200 mV below the pulse skipping level. In the case that two or more set top box LNB outputs are connected together by the customer (e.g., with a splitter), it is possible that one output could be programmed at a higher voltage than the other. This would cause a voltage on one output that is higher than its programmed voltage (e.g., 19 V on the output of a 13 V programmed voltage). The output with the highest voltage will effectively turn off the other outputs. As soon as this voltage is reduced below the value of the other outputs, the A8293 output will auto-recover to their programmed levels. Charge Pump. Generates a supply voltage above the internal tracking regulator output to drive the linear regulator control. Slew Rate Control. During either start-up, or when the output voltage at the LNB pin is transitioning, the output voltage rise and fall times can be set by the value of the capacitor connected from the TCAP pin to GND (CTCAP or C7 in the Applications Schematic). Note that during start-up, the BOOST pin is precharged to the input voltage minus a voltage drop. As a result, the slew rate control for the BOOST pin occurs from this voltage.
