These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

SERVICE MODE [FACTORY MODE] ENTRY

  • Press “POWER OFF”, then “▲”and “ENTER” at the same time.
  • Once more press “POWER ON”and go into the FACTORY MODE
FIRMWARE UPGRADE PROCEDURE
  • Prepare N2011E ISP Board in hand first.
  • Plug in the ISP Board into your PC Printer Port, then switch the PC on to stand by.

  • Install Printer Port Driver, and then install Setup_LptDrv_v020201_XP_2000. After installation is completed, make sure you restart the PC.
  • Light up the LCD TV monitor, and then plug the 4Pin female component into the 4Pin male component under the rear cover of the LCD TV. (Note that the LCD TV monitor must be lighted on now)
  • Run the .exe file under the path of C:\Program\Micronas\LptDrv\LptDrvTest from your PC. If the following screen appears, then the ISP Printer Port Device is functioning normally.

  • Install ISP I2C Driver, and then install the installation program of Setup_Visual_i2c_v3-2-3b8h.exe. After installation is completed, you can see the .exe file under Windows O.S.C::\program\micronas\visual I2C program.
  • After the ISP I2C is installed, you can run the C:\VCTI\vct49xyi_start.vi2c.exe program under VCTI menu.

  • When the above screen shows, the TVT Item is running, and the following screen will appear.
  • When the above picture appears, click on the Bootloader Item with your mouse cursor, and the following screen will appear. Keep running the Bootloader Item until the LCD TV screen disappears all at once, and then you can enter ISP Mode.
  • Run Bootloader Version again. Press the Enter key continuously, and the Version 22 screen will appear.
  • Run the Erase Flash commander again, and run the Load Bin->Flash commander, and then choose the location of Load Bin File as follows.

  • When the following screen appears, the program is being burned in (about 2.5 min), and the program is updated.
