REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

SONY KD-49XG7096
General recommendations for TV LCD LED repair
Possible manifestations of defects

- SONY TV KD-49XG7096 does not turn on at all. No response to the remote control and front panel control buttons. Indicator lamps do not light up or flash.

In some of these cases, the problem is found in the adapter power supply module.
An external power supply adapter 19.5V AC / DC ACDP-160D02 type can be purchased by the owner of the TV on his own and its repair is not always expedient. In any case, the simplest typical defects characteristic of most SMPS circuits can be easily detected and eliminated after opening. Its output voltages should be measured and, in their absence, the serviceability of the power switches and rectifier diodes in the converters should be checked for possible breakdown.
In case of any breakdowns in the secondary circuits, the converter can operate in an emergency mode of a short circuit, and in the event of a short circuit in the power elements of the primary circuit, the mains fuse or the current sensor in the source of the key is often cut off.
The breakdown of power switches (MosFet) in switching sources is sometimes caused by malfunctions of other circuit elements, for example, in the circuits supplying the PWM controller, frequency setting or damper, as well as in the circuits of Negative Feedback (OOS) stabilization. PWM controllers (PWM), if they do not have visible damage to the case and an outright short circuit between the terminals, are usually checked by replacing.

- There is no image, there is sound, it reacts to the remote control, the channels are switched. In some cases, the image appears when turned on and disappears immediately.

As a rule, in this case, the backlight of the LED panel is faulty. The reason may be found in a malfunction of the LEDs, in a violation of the contact connections of the LED strips LB49024 V0_00 4-725-887, or in providing their power supply (LED driver).
When diagnosing, it must be borne in mind that it is impossible to check for an open in the circuit of the LED lines without disassembling the panels using a tester or multimeter. To open all PN junctions connected in series, a voltage of the order of several tens of volts is required, and ideally a current source. Opening the panel, you can check each LED separately. Typically, Chinese multimeters will lightly light one 3-volt LED when the probes are connected to it in the forward direction. For dual 6-volt LEDs, the PN junction of its emergency zener diode can serve as an indicator of the LED health. In the event of a malfunction of the LED, its zener diode will either be cut off, or broken through in the K / Z.

In cases where SONY KD-65XD8599 does not have a picture, but there is sound, the display backlight often does not work.
In LED TVs, the LEDs inside the V650QWME01 panel are usually faulty, and less often the LED driver.
Without backlighting, sometimes you can see a barely noticeable image with a certain successful hit of external light on the screen.

Replacing the LEDs requires disassembling the V650QWME01 panel. We do not recommend such works on their own to TV owners and craftsmen who do not have experience in repairing LCD panels, especially at home. (Yes those home grown geniuses  are the worst)

If there is no image, and the backlight is on, the screen becomes slightly lighter when turned on, and on an open TV, the light is visible through the holes in the panel case.
In this case, the T-CON (Timing Controller) board may be faulty, but often the MainBoard 1-980-832-11 is also faulty. A software failure is also possible. The panel can also be faulty - damage to strips, loops, for example, after moisture. In such cases, first of all, it is necessary to check the panel supply voltage at the LVDS connector, fuses on the T-CON board or panel brackets, as well as supply and reference voltages for column and line drivers - VGH, VGL, Vcom.
If they are within normal limits, then the oscilloscope needs to track the passage of LVDS signals from MainBoard 1-980-832-11, as well as synchronizing signals to the loops with drivers.

Flooded screens of LED TVs can sometimes be restored if significant damage has not formed in the loops and on the panel trims.

- The indicator on the front panel blinks, the TV does not turn on in operating mode, does not respond to the remote control.

Repair or diagnostics of the motherboard 1-983-119-22 should begin with checking the stabilizers and power converters necessary to power the microcircuits and matrix. If necessary, you should update or replace the software (software). When repairing an MB board, it is necessary to check its components CPU, eMMC, AUDIO, DC / DC. Defective elements must be replaced. If chips with BGA soldering technology are used, the problem in its implementation is detected by local heating of the chip.

If there is no tuning for terrestrial or cable TV channels, you should make sure that the software is correct, as well as that the supply voltages on the terminals of the CE251ZP tuner match. It is also necessary to check with an oscilloscope the presence of pulses of data exchange between the tuner and the processor via the I2C bus.

Attention to TV owners! Attempts to repair SONY KD-49XG7096 on your own are not recommended by the manufacturer and can lead to serious negative consequences!
