Apple iPod Touch
DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE
Using the heat gun or blow dryer, soften the adhesive
surrounding the display assembly that secures it to the case of the unit.
Using the plastic opening tool, pry the display assembly away from the iPod Touch case. Be mindful of the ribbon cables still attached at the top of the unit.
Do not try to remove the display assembly completely from the unit.

The display assembly has two connections to the motherboard.
Use the spudger to gently pry up on the first display assembly connection that
is plugged into the motherboard.
The second ribbon wire still attached will be disconnected later. With just one
connection removed, there is enough space to maneuver the display in order to
continue the disassembly.
Locate and remove the eight small Phillips screws (#00)
that secure the metal cover plate into the iPod Touch 4th Gen.
There is a small metal clip that secures the rear facing camera into the upper
corner. Use the spudger to pry this clip off the camera.
Use the flat end of the spudger to lift the metal cover
plate out of the iPod Touch and exposethe motherboard.
Locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00) that
secure the top portion of the motherboard intothe iPod Touch 4th Gen.
Using the spudger, lift up and release the rear facing
camera from its housing in the iPod Touch.
Removing Headphone
Jack
Use the spudger to pry up and remove the connection for
the headphone jack.
Locate and remove the single Phillips screw (#00) that
secures the headphone jack into its housing inthe iPod Touch 4th Gen.
With both the connection and the securing screw removed
for the headphone jack, remove the piece from the iPod Touch with the spudger.
Removing Speaker
The iPod Touch speaker is in the opposite corner of the
phone. Pry it out of its location using the spudger.
Do not try to remove the speaker from the iPod Touch; its connection is soldered to the motherboard.

Removing Battery
The battery is secured to the back of the case with adhesive.
Use the spudger to pry up and release the battery from the iPod Touch 4th Gen
case.
The last piece holding the motherboard into the iPod Touch is the charging dock port. Use the spudger to pry this piece out of its location; this will completely release the motherboard from the iPod’s case.
*Do not try to remove the motherboard from the iPod Touch, there is one more ribbon wire still attached.

With the motherboard released from the iPod Touch 4th Gen
case, flip the motherboard assembly out as if you were opening a book.
Be careful with
the ribbon wire that is still attached for the volume buttons.
Removing Display
Assembly
The display assembly connection is covered with tape that
needs to be removed. Once the tape is removed, use the spudger to disconnect
the display assembly connection. Locate and remove the two small Phillips
screws (#00) that secure the bracket for the volume buttons with the
appropriate screwdriver.
Next, locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00)
that secure the power button into the top of the iPod Touch case. *One of the screws is hidden behind the
ribbon cable for the
power button itself.
With all the screws for the power and volume buttons
removed, use the spudger to peel up the ribbon cables. You can now remove the
entire assembly from the iPod Touch 4th Gen.
Removing Front-Facing
Camera
Use the spudger to disconnect the front-facing camera by
prying the connection up and removing the camera from the iPod Touch.
Removing Rear-Facing
Camera
Just like the front-facing camera, use the spudger to
disconnect the rear-facing camera. Pry the connection up and remove the camera
from the Pod Touch 4th Gen.
