REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE
Using the heat gun or blow dryer, soften the adhesive surrounding the display assembly that secures it to the case of the unit.
Using the plastic opening tool, pry the display assembly away from the iPod Touch case. Be mindful of the ribbon cables still attached at the top of the unit.
Do not try to remove the display assembly completely from the unit.
The display assembly has two connections to the motherboard. Use the spudger to gently pry up on the first display assembly connection that is plugged into the motherboard.
The second ribbon wire still attached will be disconnected later. With just one connection removed, there is enough space to maneuver the display in order to continue the disassembly.
Locate and remove the eight small Phillips screws (#00) that secure the metal cover plate into the iPod Touch 4th Gen.
There is a small metal clip that secures the rear facing camera into the upper corner. Use the spudger to pry this clip off the camera.
Use the flat end of the spudger to lift the metal cover plate out of the iPod Touch and exposethe motherboard.
Locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00) that secure the top portion of the motherboard intothe iPod Touch 4th Gen.
Using the spudger, lift up and release the rear facing camera from its housing in the iPod Touch.
Removing Headphone Jack
Use the spudger to pry up and remove the connection for the headphone jack.
Locate and remove the single Phillips screw (#00) that secures the headphone jack into its housing inthe iPod Touch 4th Gen.
With both the connection and the securing screw removed for the headphone jack, remove the piece from the iPod Touch with the spudger.
Removing Speaker
The iPod Touch speaker is in the opposite corner of the phone. Pry it out of its location using the spudger.
Do not try to remove the speaker from the iPod Touch; its connection is soldered to the motherboard.
Removing Battery
The battery is secured to the back of the case with adhesive. Use the spudger to pry up and release the battery from the iPod Touch 4th Gen case.
The last piece holding the motherboard into the iPod Touch is the charging dock port. Use the spudger to pry this piece out of its location; this will completely release the motherboard from the iPod’s case.
*Do not try to remove the motherboard from the iPod Touch, there is one more ribbon wire still attached.
With the motherboard released from the iPod Touch 4th Gen case, flip the motherboard assembly out as if you were opening a book.
Be careful with the ribbon wire that is still attached for the volume buttons.
Removing Display Assembly
The display assembly connection is covered with tape that needs to be removed. Once the tape is removed, use the spudger to disconnect the display assembly connection. Locate and remove the two small Phillips screws (#00) that secure the bracket for the volume buttons with the appropriate screwdriver.
Next, locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00) that secure the power button into the top of the iPod Touch case. *One of the screws is hidden behind the ribbon cable for the power button itself.
With all the screws for the power and volume buttons removed, use the spudger to peel up the ribbon cables. You can now remove the entire assembly from the iPod Touch 4th Gen.
Removing Front-Facing Camera
Use the spudger to disconnect the front-facing camera by prying the connection up and removing the camera from the iPod Touch.
Removing Rear-Facing Camera
Just like the front-facing camera, use the spudger to disconnect the rear-facing camera. Pry the connection up and remove the camera from the Pod Touch 4th Gen.
