These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

LAMP REPLACEMENT

  • Turn the power off and disconnect the projector from the power outlet. If the lamp is hot, avoid burns by waiting for approximately 45minutes until the lamp has cooled.
  • Loosen the screw that secures the lamp cover on the side of the projector until the lamp cover loosens.
  • Remove the lamp cover from the projector.
*   Do not turn the power on with the lamp cover removed.
** Do not insert your fingers between the lamp and the projector. The sharp edges inside the projector may cause injuries.
  • Loosen the screw that secures the lamp.
  • Lift the handle so that it stands up.

  • Use the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the projector.
*  Pulling it too quickly may cause the lamp to break and scatter broken glass in the projector.
*  Do not place the lamp in locations where water might splash on it, children can reach it, or near flammable materials.
*  Do not insert your hands into the projector after the lamp is removed. If you touch the optical components inside, it could cause color unevenness and distortion of the projected images.
  • As shown in the figure, lower the new lamp.
  • Tighten the screw that secures the lamp.
  • Ensure the handle is fully laid flat and locked in place.
  • Loose screw may cause a bad connection, which could result in malfunction.
  • Do not over tighten the screw.
  • Replace the lamp cover on the projector.
  • Tighten the screw that secures the lamp cover.
  • Loose screw may cause a bad connection, which could result in malfunction.
  • Do not over tighten the screw.

RESETTING LAMP TIMER
  • Connect the power and restart the projector.
  • After the start-up logo, press MENU/EXIT and then press [ < / > ] until the System Setup :
  • Advanced menu is highlighted.
  • Press [DN] to highlight Lamp Settings and press MODE/ENTER. The Lamp Settings page displays.
  • Highlight Reset Lamp Timer and press MODE/ENTER. A warning message displays asking if you want to reset the lamp timer.
  • Highlight Reset and press MODE/ENTER. The lamp time will be reset to "0".
INDICATIONS
There are three indicators, which show the status of the projector. Check the following for information about the indicator lights. If there is anything wrong, turn the projector off and contact your dealer.
