These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

ADJUSTMENTS
Preliminary Steps
  • Turn on the TV set.
  • The equipment must be operated for about 15 minutes prior to adjustment.
Adjustment
  • Set the RF signal without condition or after receiving a signal.
  • Press the ADJ button on the Remote Control to enter the Screen Mode to create a horizontal line.  Turn the Volume screen to not display the horizontal line and rotate clockwise so that it can be viewed.
Set White Balance
  • Perform pre-screen settings (screen).
  • As the sequence below, you can adjust it manually.
Test Equipment
  • White Balance Auto Meter (which can generate standards High or Low Brightness): automatic adjustment.
  • Gauge White Balance (CRT color analyzer, CA-100).
  • Remote control for adjustment.
Tune the TV to receive a 100% white pattern.
Perform advance settings screen (Screen).
  • The White Balance should be adjusted by the meter white balance or the remote.
  • Press ADJ to enter the adjustment mode, search the RGB mode W-B with the CH [UP],  and CH [DN] select by pressing VOL.
  • Adjust the item using the buttons CH[UP], CH[DN]
  • Adjust the data via the  keys VOL[LEFT], VOL[RIGHT].
  1. Adjust "CONTRAST" and "BRIGHT" until the level of brightness is 35Ft_L.
  2. Select the RD (R-DRIVE) and set the Y coordinate in High brightness and select BD (B-DRIVE) and adjust the X coordinated so that the color coordinates High
  3. Set the "CONTRAST" and "BRIGHT" so that the level Brightness is 4.5 Ft_L.
  4. Select the RC (R-CUTOFF) and set the Y coordinate Lower brightness and select BC (B-CUTOFF) and setting the coordinate X so that the coordinates the color having low brightness values
  5. Repeat steps 1) ~ 4) to obtain the coordinates of colors that satisfy] for high and low luminosity.
  6. Check the color coordinates adjusted using a meter of white balance.

The setting sequence is based on the setting and 3Mode initial adjustment will be made based on the NTSC mode.
  1. Sequence: NTSC => PAL (100Hz) => PAL (50p)

  • VA (Vertical Amplitude)  Adjust the upper and lower circle effective screen CPT to stay at a distance of 6 ~ 7mm.
  • SC (Vertical S Correction)  Adjust the widths of latitudes Superior / Central / Lower they are the same.  As the value determined by TLC DY used, set as standard for use of CPT.
  • HS (Horizontal Shift)  Adjust so that the vertical center line of the circular digital pattern conforms to the geometric center of the vertical CPT.
  • EW (East-West Width)  Adjust the ends of latitudes left / right to be united with the effective surface of the edge of the CPT.
  •  BOW (Bow) Adjust line, do not change the default value.
  • ANG:  In setting angle, the tilt adjustment until the line central vertical is precisely vertical.
  •  EP (Parable east-west)  Adjust so that the middle portion of the left vertical line and right rein ends with parallel lines Vertical CPT.
  •  CRNU (Correction Corner Higher)  After completing the EP adjustment, adjust until the vertical line the upper-left and upper-right are aligned.
  • CRNL (Correction of Lower Corner)  After completing the EP adjustment, adjust until the vertical line the bottom-left and bottom-right are aligned.
  • CRNU6:  After finishing the setting CRNU, adjust the vertical line top-left and top-right of the screen for that become aligned as possible.

  •  After finishing the setting, move to "Store All Mode" and press the "OK" to save changes made.

  • A-ANG:  In setting angle, the tilt adjustment until the line central vertical is precisely vertical.
  • EPP:  Adjust so that the upper and lower horizontal width are identical.
  • EP (Parable east-west)  Adjust so that the middle portion of the left vertical line and right most extreme beam parallel to the lines Vertical CPT.
  • UC (Pincution Corner Higher)  After finishing the setting PINAMP, make adjustments until the vertical lines on the top left and right are aligned.
  • LC (Pincution Corner Bottom)  After finishing the setting PINAMP, make adjustments until the vertical lines on the bottom left and right are aligned.
  • V-SCR (V-SCROLL)  Perform this adjustment only when it is impossible to make the V Shift adjustment.
  • SC (Vertical S Correction)  Adjust the widths of latitudes Superior / Central / Lower they are identical.  As the value determined by TLC DY used, set as standard for use of CPT.
  • After finishing the setting, move to "Store All Mode" and press the "OK" button to save the changes.
