REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

URC MX-600 REMOTE CONTROL SETUP PROCEDURE

MX-600 REMOTE CONTROL SETUP PROCEDURE

SETUP PROCEEDINGS
Using Pre-Programmed device codes.

  1. Manually turn on the device you wish to operate.
  2. Go to the SETUP mode by pressing both the MAIN and ENTER buttons simultaneously for three seconds until SETUP appears at the top of the LCD screen.
  3. Press the P-PRO button next to the LCD screen.
  4. The remote will be flashing “SELECT BUTTON”.  Press the button for the device you wish to program. (For example, to program TV, press the TV button.)
  5. The remote will be flashing “FROM TABLE”. Select the device from which you want to access the code table.
  6. The remote will be flashing “ENTER NUMBER”. (If you are programming the remote for the TV device, find the TV device code table.).  {See the previous post for setup code list}
  7. Point the remote control toward the device and enter the first three-digit code number you selected for your device.  There is no way of knowing which code is the one that will have the functions that more closely match your device than the others, so it is wise to try them all.
  8. Important:  enter the code number within 20 seconds of beginning programming, otherwise the remote will revert to the SETUP menu, and then after a period of time, it will go back to the MAIN device page.  If there is more than one code number assigned to your brand, try one code number at a time until you find the right code number (the number that turns off your device.)  If the device turns off when you enter the three-digit code, make note of the code. It will have at least some of the functions in it that are needed to control your device.
  9. Confirm that it is the right code by pressing the Power button. The device should turn on. After you have confirmed that the right code is entered, save the code by pressing the SAVE button on the LCD.  At this point try ALL of the buttons on the remote, and see which ones work with your device. The majority of the buttons should work with your device. Make note of the code if it seems to be the right one, and try the next one.  You are trying to find the one that has the most functions to operate your equipment.
  10. Continue to program other components by repeating from Step 1 above.
  11. You can press EXIT at any time if you do not wish to proceed.
