REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

DNS E16A20
General recommendations for TV LCD LED repair
If the E16A20 does not turn on, does not respond to the remote control and front panel buttons, does not blink light bulbs and does not show any signs of operability, the Adapter 12V 2A power supply module is probably faulty in this case. After checking the mains fuse and power elements of the primary circuit of the power supply unit, you should also check the absence of a short circuit in the loads of the secondary rectifiers.
Mos-Fet switches used in switching power supplies (SMPS) rarely fail without reasons that must be looked for by checking other circuit elements. Breakdown is often caused by malfunctions of electrolytic capacitors or semiconductor elements in the primary circuit, or breakdown of resistors in stabilization circuits. The PWM controller chip PWM can also cause the breakdown of the power switch of the converter.
In cases where the DNS E16A20 TV has lost the image, but there is sound and all other functions are operational, there is a possibility of a malfunction of the LED driver (converter for powering the backlight LEDs of the N156BGE-L21 Rev. C1 panel). When you turn on the TV, the image may appear and disappear briefly. It should be borne in mind that with such manifestations, the LEDs themselves fail.
A malfunction in the backlight circuits often occurs due to an open circuit in the power supply circuit of the LED lines. It is required to disassemble the panel and check the LEDs themselves, the ration of their conclusions, as well as the reliability of the connections in the connectors and the ration of the connector pins.
It should be remembered that it is not possible to determine an open circuit in the LED lines without disassembling the panels using a tester or multimeter without an additional device, for example, a current source. To open all PN junctions connected in series at once, a voltage of several tens of volts may be required. Then you need to open the panel and check each LED separately with a multimeter. If the capabilities of your multimeter do not allow opening the LED in the forward direction or dual LEds are used, then the PN transition of the emergency zener diode can indirectly serve as an indicator of serviceability. In the event of a malfunction of the LED-a, the PN-junction of the Zener diode will either be cut off, or broken through in the SC.
When trying to repair the motherboard, you should first check the serviceability of linear stabilizers or microcircuit power converters and, if necessary, update the software (software).
In some cases, the elements of the MB (SSB) board require checking or replacing (if necessary) - Cpu: TSUMV59XE-Z1, Spi Flash: 25Q32, Audio: YD1517. In cases where a BGA processor is used, its malfunction is usually detected by a local warm-up method.
Attention to the owners! Attempts to repair the DNS E16A20 TV yourself are not recommended by the manufacturer and can lead to serious negative consequences!

DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE FOR SPI FLASH  ----------->   DNS E16A20, Main: CV59L-C, Panel: TL156WH4

The appearance of the MainBoard CV59L-C is shown in the figure below:
The MainBoard CV59L-C uses a multipurpose microprocessor of the TSUMV59 type with a built-in scaler and an external SPI Flash ROM of the 25Q32 type (4Mb).
It is advisable to start repairing the motherboard with checking the voltage converters + 5V and the power supply of the processor core + 1.2V, as well as the linear voltage stabilizers + 3.3V and the power supply of the built-in RAM DDRAM of the processor 1.8V.
If the display backlight is working properly and there is no image, it is necessary to check the panel power supply (depending on the type, + 5V or + 12V), which can be measured directly at the LVDS connector. If, with all supply voltages present, the TV does not go into operation, does not respond to the Remote Control and control buttons, you should update the SPI Flash software.
CV59L-C can be used in TVs:
DNS E16A20 (Panel TL156WH4 (TL)(N2)), DNS E19A11 (Panel CX185LEDM (M185BGE-P02)), ELENBERG LE236N59W (Panel HM236WU-100), TELEFUNKEN TF-LED19S2 (Panel A185CD1B1E-2-A).

Key features of the DNS E16A20:
Installed matrix (LED panel) TL156WH4 (TL) (N2) or N156BGE-L21 Rev. C1 or N156BGE-L11 or LP156WH4 or LP156WA4.
Matrix control uses Timing Controller (T-CON) N156B6-L0A-X + C.
The integrated LED driver is used to power the backlight LEDs.
To power all the internal nodes of the DNS E16A20 TV, an external source of the PS30IBCAK2000E Adapter 12V 2A type is used using PWM microcircuits.
MainBoard - the main board (motherboard) is a CV59L-C module, using Cpu chips: TSUMV59XE-Z1, Spi Flash: 25Q32, Audio: YD1517 and others.
DNS E16A20 TV with LCD TL156WH4, diagonal size 16 "(41 cm) 16: 9 format. The required screen brightness of 250 cd / m² is provided by LED backlight. Contrast - the ratio of maximum brightness to minimum brightness is 1100: 1. the model uses a panel with an edge arrangement of backlight LEDs - Edge LED.
The TL156WH4 (TL) (N2) sensor and MainBoard CV59L-C software provide HD quality viewing at 1366x768 pixels in 720p (HD Ready). The input high-frequency or video signal is decoded in analog systems PAL, SECAM, NTSC. Graphic processing and digital signal shaping takes place in the 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p standards. Supported media file formats: MP3, WMA, MPEG4, DivX, MKV, JPEG.
Speaker power of 10 W (2x5 W) is provided by two speakers. The NICAM STEREO audio processing system is used.
External interface (communication with other devices) is supported by standard input and output connectors: antenna input (RF), AV, audio x2, component, SCART, VGA, HDMI, USB. A headphone output is provided. To connect a computer or laptop to this TV model, use the VGA (D-Sub 15) connector on the TV case, this interface supports resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1360x768.
The power consumed by the TV operating in mains mode is 24 W. PS30IBCAK2000E power supply.
Overall dimensions: 414x310x40 mm.
TV weight: 1.7 kg.
Attention! Panel TL156WH4 (TL) (N2) DNS E16A20 LED TV is an expensive and unreliable element.
Do not allow any impact on the glass and pressure on the screen surface to avoid damage to the LED panel!
It is also unsafe for liquid to spill onto the screen. Sometimes one drop is enough if it drips down the glass onto the cables to make the TV unrepairable.
