These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

To enter the factory mode (Service Mode)
Press the menu” key on the remote control unit, move to SOUND submenu, choose Balance (the character Balance” turn pink), press the number keys 9883 in turn.

Reset in the FUNCTION MENU. The word in the < > at the right side of options shows the current option state, <yes> means “on” and <no>  means” off”.
The default state is <yes>.

The two options are menu language setting, each of them has “yes” and “no” state. You can set Menu language in FUNCTION MENU when the language is set to “yes”. English is only set in the default setting, others are off.

Factory mode adjustment
Before white balance adjustment, preheat the set for about a 2-hour.
Before white balance adjustment, a color analyzer Ca210 first set. Channel 1 Series models in North America to use the channel.
The whole white balance adjustment procedure is as follows
Press menu, the main menu appears, and then followed by the number key 1 => 9 => 9 => 9, there will be factory OSD menu, enter the factory mode.
1. Select the "Source" in the factory OSD menu to select a different color temperature adjustment Source (PC / AV / S-Video / component, etc.);
2. Select Good Source, select the factory menu "Color Temp" option to adjust the color temperature corresponding Source option.
R, G, B gain adjustment
Note
1) All Source adjustment WARM, COOL, NORMAL, where PC timing of 137 (1024 * 768 60hz), AV timing of 303 (NTSC Standard), YPbPr timing of 311 (576I), HDMI timing of 350 (1080I).
2) until all the color temperature adjustment, first make PC (timing137, pat185) and YPbPr (timing311, pat185) of the Auto Color. Remarks:
YPbPr need to take three lines, do color order YPbPr 100IRE.
3) Under normal circumstances this aircraft without adjusting W / B, only action can do Auto Color.

Factory pattern adjustment
It takes approximately 2 hours for the machine to warm up before the white balance adjustment.
Before performing the white balance adjustment, set the color analyzer Ca210.
Channel 1 is used for North American models.
White balance adjustment Source and color temperature standards
The entire white balance adjustment process is as follows:
Press the Menu key, the main menu appears, and then press the number keys 1 > 9 > 9 > 9, there will be factory OSD menu, enter the factory mode.
1. Select "Source" from the factory OSD menu to select different Source color temperature adjustment (PC / AV / S-Video / component, etc.);
2. Select the Source; select the factory menu "Color Temp" option to adjust the color temperature of the corresponding Source option.

Note:
1) Source adjustment WARM, COOL, NORMAL, where PC timing is 137 (1024 * 768 60hz), AV timing is 303 (NTSC YPbPr timing is 311 (576I), and HDMI timing is 350 (1080I).
2) Before all color temperature adjustment, please do Auto Color of PC (timing137, pat185) and YPbPr (timing311, pat185). Note: YPbPr need to take three lines, do the color level YPbPr 100IRE.
3) This model generally does not need to adjust the W / B, only need to do Auto Color action can be.
