These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.

Taking out the Disc from Drive Unit when the Disc cannot be ejected by OPEN/CLOSE button
Forcible Disc Eject
When the power can be turned off.
1. Turn the unit off, then press and hold [OK], [Yellow] and [Blue] buttons on the remote control simultaneously for 5 seconds.
- “00 RET” is displayed on the unit’s FL display.
2. Repeatedly press the [ > ] button on the remote control or [POWER] button on the unit until “06FTO” is displayed on the unit’s
FL display.
3. Press [OK] button on the remote control or [OPEN/CLOSE] button on the unit.
When the power can not be turned off.
Press [POWER] button on the unit for over 4 seconds to turn off the power forcibly, and step 1 to 3 above.
When the Forcible Disc Eject can not be done.
1. Turn off the power and pull out AC cord.
2. Put the unit so that bottom can be seen.
3. Insert paper clips, etc. into the hole on the bottom of Drive Unit and slide the paper clips, etc. in the direction of the arrow to eject tray slightly.
4. Put the unit upward, and pick out Tray by finger.

About the Multiple Pressing of the Unit’s Remote Control
The remote control which included this unit is possible pressing multiple buttons simultaneously (Multiple Pressing function), and can operate for the customer's initial settings and the Service Mode, etc.
The Multiple Pressing function is not available for conventional models' remote control. Use the remote control included this unit.
How to enter the Special Modes using the Multiple Pressing Function of the Unit’s Remote Control.
For pressing the multiple buttons of the remote control, this unit can be entering each of the following special modes.
After entering each mode, and then go to the menu you want to run.
 Open Mode (Remote Cont. Buttons: [OK] [Yellow] [Blue])
When pressing the 3 buttons, [OK], [Yellow] and [Blue] simultaneously for 5 seconds, “00RET” is displayed on the FL displayMove the menus for each mode:
Privately Mode 1 (Remote Cont. Buttons: [6] [7] [Yellow])
When pressing the 3 buttons, [6], [7] and [Yellow] simultaneously for 5 seconds, “50RET” is displayed on FL display.
Privately Mode 2 (Remote Cont. Buttons: [5] [9] [Red])
When pressing the 3 buttons, [5], [9] and [Red] simultaneously for 5 seconds, “70RET” is displayed on FL display.
Press [ PLAY] button (Remote Cont.) or [POWER] button (Unit)
Execute
Press [OK] button (Remote Cont.) or [O/C] button (Unit)
* After excuting the menu will automatically exit the special mode.
# How to exit from the special modes
# Press the unrelated buttons for the operation.
# No operation for 2 minutes or more.
# Press and hold [POWER] button on the unit. (Forcible Power Off)

Information necessary for service can be displayed.
How to enter the Service Mode
1. Turn the unit ON
2. Press 5,9 and RED Button of the remote control simultaneously for 5 second.
3. 70RET will displayed on FLD
4. Press PLAY button on thr remote and the POWER button on the unint
5.80SRV will displayed on FLD
6. Press OK button on the remote or EJECT button on the unit
7. Hello is displayed
Wait for 20 seconds
SERV will displayed on the FLD
How to exit the Service Mode
Press and hold the [POWER] button (remote control or unit).
>>> The Service Mode is terminated and automatically turns the unit off.
Adjustment
 [Drive] Input Engineering Adjusted Value([7] [2])
1. Input [7] [2] with the remote control's numeral keys in the service mode.
The FL display "DQR__"(__is blank)at this time. Engineering Adjusted Value display is in the input state.
2. Input Engineering Adjusted Value with remote control:
The FL is displaying the input numeric from the left.(Use "*" to display the digits needed to enter)
"******"The digit has not been entered.
"1*****" The 1st digit has been entered.
"12****" The 2nd digit has been entered.
"123456" The 6th digit has been entered.
(* The QRcode input operation cannot be cancelled, when the 6 digits are not input totally.)
(* The input operation will be cancelled by entering "000000".)
3. Input the 6 digits totally, then the 6 digits are registration QRcode.
The registration status will display on the FL.
When register successful: "DQR_OK".
When register fail: "DQR_NG".
4. Release command: Press the numeral keys [0] [0] to end the input mode.
The reading method of Engineering Adjusted Value
1. Input [0] [9] with the remote control's numeral keys in the service mode.
The FL display 6 digits of Engineering Adjusted Value at this time. Please noted it on paper.
2. Reading Engineering Adjusted Value from the paster on the service part BD drive or OPU.
For Example of Engineering Adjusted Value:
The method of confirming BD-VIDEO SL Disc
BD-VIDEO SL Disc is the normal pressed disc product saled in market. The BD-R or BD-RE cannot be used as adjust disc.
By confirming "C1" displayed while in service mode [4] [8] then consider it can be used as adjust disc of Engineering Adjusted 
Value. 
Micro Fuse Conducting Check
This unit uses the Micro Fuse.
Check the Micro Fuse conducting using the Tester at the check points below.
