These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

HOW TO DISASSEMBLE AND SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE 

DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE 
Removing the Stand Ass’y
1. Remove the 1 lock screw and detach the Stand Ass’y.

Removing the Terminal Cover Ass’y and Top Cabinet Ass’y
1. Detach the Terminal Cover Ass’y .
2. Remove the 5 lock screws , 1 lock screw , 1 lock screw and detach the Top Cabinet Ass’y.

Removing the Shield, Fan, Fix PWB and LED Holder
1. Remove the 2 lock screws , 2 lock screws and detach the Shield.
2. Disconnect the Fan cable connector and detach the Fan.
3. Detach the Fix PWB (S) and Fix PWB (L).
4. Remove the 1 lock screw and detach the LED Holder.

Removing the Bottom Cabinet Ass’y
1. Remove the 3 lock screws and detach the Bottom Cabinet Ass’y.

Removing the BD DRIVE Unit
1. Disconnect the 2 FFCs.
2. Remove the 2 lock screws and detach the BD DRIVE Unit.
3. Remove the 2 lock screws and detach the Drive Angle-L from BD DRIVE Unit.

Removing the OPERATION Unit, LED Unit, Wireless LAN Unit and MAIN Unit
1. Detach the RC SW Knob.
2. Disconnect the USB connector.
3. Disconnect the connector.
4. Remove the 1 lock screw.
5. Remove the 2 lock screws and detach the OPERATION Unit
by pulling out the B to B connector ,and detach the LED Unit .
6. Detach the Wireless LAN Unit pulling out the connector.
7. Remove the 2 lock screws , 1 lock screw.
8. Detach the DC Holder.
9. Disconnect the 2 connectors .
10.Remove the 4 lock screws and detach the MAIN Unit.

SERVICE NOTICE
1. Before replacing the main PWB, check up the software version. If its version is out of date, get it updated.
2. The IC7208, IC7806 and IC2504 have their own BD cryptography keys and programs already written on. For this reason, they cannot be individually replaced with new ones.
SOFTWARE UPDATE FROM USB MEMORY DEVICE
Preparation
# The USB memory device must be clear of all files except software update data to allow new software uploading.
# Do not extract the firmware update file to any folders other than the root directory on the USB memory device. The firmware update file must be only one file directly in the root directory.
# When software update data is released, copy the data onto a USB memory device after downloading it to a PC.
HOW TO UPDATE
1. When you insert a USB memory device, be sure to turn the main power off.
2. Insert the USB memory device with the update file into the USB terminal on this player.
3. Press POWER to turn on the power.
4. The current version of this unit software and the version of the update file on the USB memory device are displayed. To update this player software with update file, select “Yes”, and press ENTER.
NOTE: If the USB memory device is not properly installed or the correct update file cannot be found on the USB memory device, an error message is displayed.
Check the file on the USB memory device, and then reinsert the USB memory device correctly.
5. When the software is successfully updated, a screen is displayed indicating that the update process is completed.
If the update has failed, check the file in the USB device and try Software Update again.
6. Remove the USB memory device.
7. Press POWER to turn off the player.
