These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Service Mode
Starting Service Mode
*Set LCD TV to the normal TV signal receive mode.
Note: In this "Service Mode" section, [ ] shows a button.
1.Press [MUTE] on the remote control once.
2.Press [MUTE] again, and press [ AV button] on LCD TV.
Setting Hotel Mode
1. Go into service mode and select Hotel Mode menu by pressing P(UP) or P(DOWN). After selecting Hotel Mode,Press (+) to enter details setting in Hotel Mode.
2. To select menu,press P(UP) or P(DOWN) and (OK) to enter the adjustrment menu,VOLX, OPTION1 or OPTION2.
To move the cursor in the adjustment,press (-) or (+).
3. To change the value either 1 or 0 on selected items,press P(UP) or P(DOWN).
4. The following "VOLX" display will appear.
VOLX Adjustment
1) Move the cursor by pressing (-) or (+).
2) Change the maximum value by pressing P(UP) or P(DOWN). Press (OK) to store the setting and turn TV off.
OPTION1
Move the cursor by pressing (-) or (+) between 2nd and 8th digits. Change the data either 1 or 0 by pressing P(UP) or P(DOWN). Press (OK) to store the setting and turn TV off.
OPTION2
Move the cursor by pressing (-) or (+) to select 2nd digits. Change the data either 1 or 0 by pressing P(UP) or P(DOWN). Press (OK) to store the setting and turn TV off.

Note: In this "Adjustment" section, [ ] shows a button.

Conditions: Heat Run 30 minutes or more
Auto Gain/Offset Adjustment
RF Mode Adjustment (normal TV receive mode)

Component Mode Adjustment
Preparation
Carry out Heat Run for 30 minutes or more before adjustment (with no RF signal).
1) Connect Y, Pb, and Pr output signals of Pattern Generator to the component jack (Y, Pb, Pr) of LCD TV.
2) Connect Y, Pb, and Pr output signals of Pattern Generator to the component jack (D Jack) of LCD TV.
3) Change the TV input mode to component mode.
4) Select 480p Mode (Y:100% Pb/Pr:75%) in Pattern Generator. Select Pattern 33 (Color Bar Pattern signal) in Pattern Generator (MSPG925F).
5) Go into service mode, and Auto Gain menu appears, and then press VOL [+].
6) Press [OK] to store the adjustment data.
PC Mode Adjustment
Preparation
Carry out Heat Run for 30 minutes or more before adjustment (with no RF signal). Connect Pattern Generator to the 15-pin D-Sub Jack of LCD TV.
1) Change the TV input mode to PC mode.
2) Set Pattern Generator to the following:
15CL7E/A/H/M/R/T: XGA (1024x768) 16-step or 11-step grayscale
20CL7E/A/H/M/R/T: VGA (640x480) 16-step grayscale
3) Go into service mode, and Auto Gain menu appears, and then press VOL [+].
4) Press [OK] to store the adjustment data.
DDC EDID Data Read & Write
The following software programs are used to read/write DDC EDID data.

UserPort.sys J(Windows/system32/Drivers)
WinEDID_2.0.exe
Be very careful that DDC EDID data read/write varies depending on Operating System conditions of PC.
