General recommendations for repairing TV LCD
Repair of the PHILIPS 20PFL4112S / 60 TV is advisable to start with a careful external examination. In this case, both external and internal components of the device should be inspected. Many visible changes make it possible to determine the future direction of troubleshooting and localization of the defect. If ring cracks are detected in the soldering of the terminals of the elements or dangling connecting tracks, swollen capacitors or charred resistors - all this can be characteristic signs of the causes or consequences of an already known typical malfunction.
If the 20PFL4112S / 60 TV does not turn on, does not make any sounds when turned on, and also no indicators on the front panel light or blink - there is a high probability of a malfunction in the power module. In some cases, only the regulator or power converter of the control processor may be faulty, which is typical for some PHILIPS models. When repairing the power supply, it is advisable to start the diagnostics by checking the mains fuse and the electrolytic capacitors of the filters of the converter secondary rectifiers. In the event of a fuse breaking, the cause should be sought in the power semiconductor elements of the pulsed flyback converter of the main power supply unit. First of all, it is necessary to check the diodes of the bridge of the rectifier of the mains voltage and the power switch of the P10NK60ZFP P4NK80ZFP converter, which can be installed separately on the radiator, or integrated with a PWM controller.
It should be remembered that the N-FET keys used in flyback converters rarely fail without their own sake without any reasons that must be sought by checking other elements of the circuit. Often the breakdown is caused by malfunctions of electrolytic capacitors or semiconductor elements in the primary circuit, or by a break in the resistors in the stabilization circuits. The PWM controller chip L6562 (8) TEA1533 (14) UBA2070T (16) can also cause a breakdown of the power switch of the converter.
If an active Power Factor Corrector (PFC) is used in the power module circuitry, it is sometimes more difficult to troubleshoot. Knowledge, experience, intuition and skills in such cases have a great advantage for a successful repair.
If the PHILIPS 20PFL4112S / 60 TV does not have an image, but there is sound, the malfunction should be sought in the power converter of the backlight (inverter). It is also necessary to check the serviceability of the electrolytic capacitors of the filter of the secondary rectifiers of the BP (power supply) for an overstated ESR.
Repair of the TCI-D2S F BL6L60P3LPL inverter can often be somewhat complicated by the use of special protection circuits, which are designed to disconnect it in emergency cases for fire safety when the lamps are depressurized, or short circuits or open circuits in high-voltage circuits and connections. Sometimes it becomes necessary for diagnostic purposes to block the protection circuits in order to be able to make the necessary measurements at the control points of the circuit.
It should be remembered that when the protection is turned off, there is always a risk of failure of the inverter power elements during diagnosis. After repair, it is necessary to restore all standard converter protection circuits.
We recommend the owners of the 20PFL4112S / 60 TV for repair only to qualified specialists with experience! Self-repair attempts without the appropriate knowledge and skills can lead to serious negative consequences!

PSU Advanced
The P2005234 power module is made using a Power Factor Correction (PFC) scheme to eliminate multiple AC harmonics introduced into the power supply by the device. The PFC is a Step-Up Converter based on a L6562 PWM controller that evenly distributes high-frequency impulses of the charging current of the electrolytic capacitor of the rectifier filter of the mains voltage over a period of 50 Hz. The current of its charge in this case will already be determined not by its reactance (usually 10-30 ohms for the network frequency), but by the elements of the converter. As a result, a change in the amplitude of the pulses (envelope) of the consumed current of the converter will repeat the shape and phase of the input sinusoidal voltage. The availability of an increased voltage (about + 380V) in the operating mode on the capacitor of the line filter indicates the serviceability of the PFC node.

Main features of the PHILIPS 20PFL4112S device:
Installed matrix (LCD panel) LC201V02 SD D1.
To power the backlight lamps, a converter is used, combined with a power supply unit, controlled by a UBA2070T PWM controller (16).
The necessary supply voltages for all nodes of the PHILIPS 20PFL4112S TV are generated by the P2005234 power module or its analogs using L6562 (PFC), TEA1533 (14) microcircuits and P10NK60ZFP, P4NK80ZFP type power switches.

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.
These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.
