If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.
These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Specifications 42PFL7772D
PHILIPS 42PFL7772D
General recommendations for repairing TV LCD
Possible malfunctions
- The PHILIPS 42PFL7772D TV does not turn on at all. The control lights do not light or flash. The TV on the remote control and the control panel buttons do not respond.
In some of these cases, the main switching power supply, the PLCD300P3 module, is faulty. In the absence of the necessary supply voltages in the secondary circuits of the converters, it is necessary to check the power switches (2SK4075, F11NM60N, P4NK60ZFP, P6NK60ZFP) and rectifier diodes for a possible partial or complete breakdown.
In case of any breakdown of semiconductors in the secondary circuits, the converter can usually work normally in emergency short circuit mode. There are no output voltages. And with a short circuit in the power elements of the primary circuit, as a rule, the mains fuse breaks and less often the current sensor at the source of the key.
Mos-Fet power switches, used in switching power supplies, sometimes fail due to a malfunction of any other elements that can put it out of operation in key mode, or create an excess of the maximum permissible parameters of the switch. These can be elements supplying the PWM controller, frequency-setting or damping circuits, or negative feedback elements in the stabilization circuit. PWM controllers TEA1601T, TEA1533AT (14pin), L6562D (PFC), in the absence of visible damage or explicit short-circuit between the terminals, are checked by replacing with new ones, or obviously working.
- There is no image, there is sound, it is responding to the remote control. Or immediately after turning on for a second, the image may appear and immediately disappear.
The defect can be caused by problems in the nodes or elements of the backlight of the display, or in the power supply of the lamps or the inverter. After checking all the electrolytic capacitors of the filters that are involved in the power supply to the inverter, you must ring in its converter power keys for breakdown and secondary windings of transformers for an open.
Sometimes, for diagnostic purposes, it is necessary to disable the inverter protection. In such cases, special care must be taken during work, and the protection circuit should be restored immediately after the repair is completed.
- The indicator on the front panel blinks, the TV does not turn on in the operating mode, it does not respond to the remote control.
Repair or diagnostics of the motherboard 3139-123-62731 should begin by checking the stabilizers and power converters needed to power the microcircuit and matrix. If necessary, update or replace the software (software). Complex repair of MB (SSB) is possible only in the conditions of a service center with the necessary equipment. Checking or replacing elements SVP WX68 7568W-LF, K4D261638K-LC40, PNX8314HS, M29W320ET, Sil9125CTU, TDA9886T requires the necessary training and professional skills in repairing modules at the component level. Problems associated with the use of BGA soldering technologies can sometimes be diagnosed by warming up.
If you suspect a malfunction of the UV1318S / AIH-3 tuner, first of all, you need to verify the correctness of the software, as well as the presence of the necessary voltage levels and pulses of data exchange with the processor via the I2C bus at the corresponding terminals of the tuner.
Once again, remind users! Attempts to self-repair a PHILIPS 42PFL7772D TV without the appropriate qualifications and the necessary experience can lead to its complete non-repairability!
