If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.
These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

General recommendations for repairing TV LCD
It is advisable to start any repair and diagnostics of the electronic device, in particular PHILIPS with the Q528.1E LA chassis, with a careful external examination of the internal and external elements. Often, based on certain external signs, it may be possible to draw certain conclusions about the reasons for the failure of certain elements of the circuit even before the necessary measurements are made, which will determine the further algorithm for troubleshooting and localizing the defect. In most cases, the repairman can guess the causes of the defect and possible consequences by the characteristic signs of typical TV defects, for example, ring cracks formed in the soldering of element leads, swollen rectifier filter capacitors, charred resistors and other circuit elements.
If the PSU 42 LCD 2K7 3104 303 50594 power supply module fails, the external manifestations may be different, for example, PHILIPS 42PFL7862D does not turn on at all and there is no indication of the indicator lights on the front panel. With the same symptoms, the stabilizer (converter) of the power supply to the control processor may be faulty. When diagnosing and repairing the power supply, first of all, replace the swollen capacitors of the filter of the secondary rectifiers and check the fuse and, if it is broken, it is necessary to identify the cause. Often in such cases, an avalanche (thermal) breakdown is detected in the power semiconductor elements of the module — rectifier diodes and 10N60 transistors in the primary circuit.
If a breakdown of the power switch is detected, it should be remembered that in a switching power supply (IIP) it does not fail by itself for no reason that should be sought by checking other elements of the primary circuit - electrolytic capacitors, PWM controller MC34067P (16n), which can be checked only by replacement, as well as other semiconductor elements (diodes, transistors, zener diodes).
If the PHILIPS 42PFL7862D does not have an image, there is sound and the channels are switched, there is a possibility of a malfunction of the display backlight, or their power converter - inverter. Sometimes when you turn on the image appears and disappears immediately. In such cases, it is necessary to check the electrolytic capacitors of the power filter of the inverter itself, including in the secondary rectifier of the main PSU. All necessary precautions must be observed when disabling the inverter protection during diagnostics and not leaving it disconnected after the repair is completed.
In cases of attempts to repair the motherboard 310431361882A, it is necessary to check the operability of the stabilizers or power converters of its microcircuits and, if possible, update the software (software). BGA chips can in most cases be diagnosed by local heating. Often, the MB (SSB) card must be replaced in case of complex malfunctions that are difficult to detect. When trying to repair, you should check its elements - PNX8541E / 0434, PNX5050EH / M1, ISP1564HL, AD8191, Tuner TD1716F / 1HXP-3 and replace failed chips with new ones. Some malfunctions may be due to the use of BGA soldering technologies in modern Main Board technologies. Typically, such defects are detected by local heating of the chip.
Attention to users! Self-repair of a PHILIPS 42PFL7862D TV without the appropriate qualifications and experience can lead to its complete non-repairability!

The appearance of the power supply
Main features of the PHILIPS 42PFL7862D device:
Installed matrix (LCD panel) LC420WU5 (SL) (B1) code 097.
The matrix control uses the Timing Controller (T-CON) 6870C-0182A.
An LC420WU5 inverter is used to power the backlight, controlled by a BD9897FS PWM controller (32 pin). A transformer BET-2544-F42L is installed in the inverter converter. As power elements of the inverter, keys of the K4075 type are used.
The necessary supply voltages for all nodes of the PHILIPS 42PFL7862D TV are generated by the power supply module 310432848892 or its analogs using microcircuits MC34067P (PWM DIP-16), MC34063 and power switches of the type 10N60.
MainBoard - the main board (motherboard) is a module 3104.313.61943, using chips PNX8541E / 0434, PNX5050EH / M1, ISP1564HL, AD8191 and others.
The tuner TD1716F / 1HXP-3 provides reception of television programs and tuning to channels.
