General repair guidelines for TV LCD LED
Possible malfunctions
- The PHILIPS 48PFS8159 TV does not turn on at all. The control lights do not light or flash. The TV on the remote control and the control panel buttons do not respond.
Often in such cases, the FSP113-4FS0 power module is faulty. It is necessary to measure its output voltages and, if they are absent, check the power switches (N-FET TO-220F) and rectifier diodes for the probability of a short circuit in the converters.
In the event of breakdowns in the secondary circuits of the converter, it can usually fail in short circuit mode, and in the event of a short circuit in the power elements of the primary circuit, the mains fuse or current sensor at the source of the key most often breaks.
The breakdown of Mos-Fet keys used in pulsed sources is often caused by malfunctions of other elements, for example, in the power supply circuit of a PWM controller, in frequency-setting or damping circuits, as well as in Negative Stabilization Feedback. PWM PFC & PWM chips are usually checked by replacing with new, or obviously working.
- There is no image, there is sound, it responds to the remote. Or the image may appear for a second when turned on and immediately disappears.
As a rule, in this case, the LED backlight turns out to be faulty. The reason may be a break in the LEDs, in the stabilization of their power supply, or in the violation of the contact connections of the strings
To detect a break in the LED lines without disassembling the panel, a current source is required. It is impossible to open transitions connected in series with a simple multimeter; voltage of several tens of volts is necessary.
- The indicator on the front panel blinks, the TV does not turn on in the operating mode, it does not respond to the remote control.
Repair or diagnostics of the 715RLPCB0000000055 motherboard should begin by checking the stabilizers and power converters needed to power the chips and matrix. If necessary, update or replace the software (software). In cases of attempts to repair the MB (SSB) board, it is necessary to check the health of its elements - DE3114-A1, 88DE6010, TDA8296HN, W25Q64FVSSIG, LNBH26LSPQR, RT9187GSP which may require replacement with new ones. If a BGA processor is installed, there is a possibility of a violation of the soldering of the contacts of its conclusions with the board (it is diagnosed by heating).
The malfunction of the tuner PE631AN is established after checking the software and all the supply voltages at its terminals. The data exchange of the tuner with the processor via the I2C bus can be controlled by an oscilloscope.
Owners and users of the PHILIPS 48PFS8159 TV should remember that self-repair without special knowledge, skills and qualifications can be fraught with negative consequences that can lead to complete non-repairability of the device!

Main features of the PHILIPS 48PFS8159 device:
Installed matrix (LED panel) TPV / TPT480LS -HJ03 Rev.SC1A.
To power the backlight LEDs, a converter is used, combined with a power supply unit, controlled by the BD9479FV SSOP-40 PWM controller. As the power elements of the LED driver, keys of the N-FET TO-252 type are used.
The necessary supply voltages for all nodes of the PHILIPS 48PFS8159 television are generated by the FSP113-4FS01 power supply module or its analogs using PFC & PWM microcircuits and N-FET TO-220F type power switches.
MainBoard - the main board (motherboard) is a module 715RLPCB0000000055, using chips DE3114-A1, 88DE6010, TDA8296HN, W25Q64FVSSIG, LNBH26LSPQR, RT9187GSP and others.
The tuner PE631AN provides TV reception and channel tuning.

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.
These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.
