REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

General recommendations for TV LCD repair
It is advisable to start repairing a SUPRA TV with a chassis with a careful external examination of both internal and external elements. Visible damage to elements can sometimes indicate the direction of searching for a defect even before the necessary measurements are taken. In some cases, defective elements are visible to the naked eye, for example, charred resistors or swollen sintered capacitors, or electrolytic ones in rectifier filters. The formed ring cracks in the soldering of the terminals of transformers or heating circuit elements are also frequent sources of many malfunctions with a variety of external manifestations.
If the power supply module fails, external manifestations may be different, for example, SUPRA STV-LC2642 does not turn on at all and there is no indication of the control lamps on the front panel. With the same symptoms, the regulator (converter) of the control processor power supply may be faulty. When diagnosing and repairing the power supply, after replacing the swollen capacitors of the secondary rectifier filters (if any), you must first check the mains fuse. If it breaks, the power elements of the transistors and diodes of the rectifier bridge should be checked for avalanche (thermal) breakdown.
If a breakdown of the power switch is detected, it should be remembered that in a switching power supply (SMPS) it does not fail by itself without reasons that should be looked for by checking other elements of the primary circuit - electrolytic capacitors, a PWM controller, which can only be checked replacement, as well as other semiconductor elements (diodes, transistors, zener diodes).
If, when SUPRA STV-LC2642 is turned on, there is no image, or it appears for a second and disappears completely, but there is sound, most likely either the backlight lamps or their power converter (inverter) are faulty. It is necessary to check the electrolytic capacitors of the filter of the secondary rectifiers in the common power supply.
The operation of the power circuits of the inverter and the backlight lamps in the normal mode is controlled by special protection, which is organized for fire safety purposes, for example, for shutdown when short circuits or breaks in high-voltage connections or when lamps are depressurized. This protection makes it difficult to diagnose and repair the inverter.
Owners of the STV-LC2642 TV are advised to contact only qualified specialists with experience for repair! Attempts to repair yourself without the appropriate knowledge and skills can lead to serious negative consequences!
