REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

SAMSUNG UE43J5202
General recommendations for LCD LED TV repair
Possible defects

- SAMSUNG UE43J5202 does not turn on and does not show any signs of performance at all. Does not blink on the indicators and does not respond to the control buttons.

Often in such cases the power module BN44-00852A is defective. Then we recommend to measure its output voltages and in case of their absence you should check the functionality of the power switches (TO-220, TO252) and the inverter rectifier diodes for probable short circuit.
If the semiconductors in the secondary circuits breakdown, the inverter can usually be short-circuited, and the mains fuse is often blown when the power elements in the primary circuit are shorted.
Breakdown of power switches (MosFet) in pulsed sources, sometimes caused by faults in other circuit elements, such as PWM controller supply, frequency-retaining or damping circuits, as well as in negative feedback stabilization circuits (NFSR). PWM regulators FA6A20N, if they do not have visible housing damage and outright short circuits between pins, are usually checked by replacement.

- No picture, but sound is present, remote control responds. Or the image appears at power on and immediately disappears.

Failure in most of these cases is detected in the nodes and elements of LED panel backlight. The cause may be in the breakage of the backlight LEDs, in their power supply stabilization, or in the violation of the contact connections of the GC43D08-ZC22AG-15 303GC430043 string connectors.
When trying to detect breaks in the LED strings, you should keep in mind that it is difficult to do without disassembling the panel. For example a current source is needed to open the PN junctions connected in series.

- The TV doesn't turn on, the remote control doesn't respond. Indicator blinks or signals standby mode.

Repair or diagnostic of the motherboard BN41-02482A should begin with checking the stabilizers and power converters necessary to power the chips and matrix. If necessary, software (software) should be updated or replaced. If there is no possibility to replace the MB board (SSB), it is necessary to check the functionality of its components - CPU, eMMC, SPI Flash, DRAM, AUDIO, DC/DC. Defective components should be replaced.

The BN40-00318A DNTS243H5A tuner is faulty after checking the software and all the supply voltages at the terminals. The data exchange between the tuner and the processor via I2C can be checked with an oscilloscope.

Users and owners of TVs need to remember that trying to repair the SAMSUNG UE43J5202 TV without the appropriate qualification and the necessary experience, can lead to serious negative consequences!

MainBoard Appearance

The main features of the SAMSUNG UE43J5202:

A matrix (LED panel) BOEI430WU1 is installed.
Timing Controller (T-CON) HV430FHB-N1A is used to control the matrix.
A converter combined with a power supply is used to power the backlight LEDs and is controlled by the SLC7015R PWM controller. As the power elements of LED-driver are used switches of TO-252 type.
The power supply module BN44-00852A or its analogues with the use of FA6A20N chips and TO-220, TO-252 power switches form the necessary supply voltages for all the nodes of SAMSUNG UE43J5202 TV.

Warning. The BOEI430WU1 panel of the SAMSUNG UE43J5202AU LED TV is an expensive and unreliable part of it.
Do not allow any impact on the glass and pressure on the surface of the screen to avoid damage to the LED-panel!
It is also not safe to get liquid on the screen. Sometimes one drop is enough if it drips down the glass onto the cables and the TV becomes unrepairable.
