These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.
While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.

General recommendations for LCD LED TV repair
Possible defects
- SAMSUNG UE49KU6500 TV does not turn on, does not respond to the remote and the control panel buttons, LEDs are not lit or blinking.
Most often with such manifestations turns out to be a faulty main power module BN44-00876A. It is necessary to measure the output voltages in its secondary circuits, and in case of their complete absence you should check the serviceability of the power switches (N-FET TO-220F) and the rectifier diodes for possible breakdown (short circuit).
With any breakdown in the secondary circuits, the inverter can operate in an emergency short-circuit mode, and a short in the power elements of the primary circuit is more likely to blow the mains fuse or the current sensor at the source of the key.
Breakdown of power switches (MosFet) in pulse sources, sometimes caused by failures of other circuit elements, for example, in the circuits that feed the PWM controller, frequency-retaining or damping circuits, as well as in the negative feedback (negative feedback) stabilization circuits. PWM regulators (PFC) PFC, PWM, if they do not have visible case damage and outright short circuit between pins, are usually checked by replacement.
- No picture, but there is sound and all other functions work. Sometimes when switching on the image appears for a second and then disappears.
The most probable in these cases is the failure of the LED panel backlight. The cause may be in the breakage of backlight LED's, in their power supply stabilization, or in the violation of the contact connections of LM41-00246A string connectors.
It should be remembered that to determine the breakage in the LED strings without disassembling the panel, with a tester or multimeter is not possible without an additional device, such as a current source. To open all the PN-junctions connected in series at once you may need a voltage of several tens of volts. Then you have to open the panel and check each LED separately with a multimeter. If the capabilities of your multimeter do not allow to open the LED in the forward direction or twin LEd's are used, then the PN junction of the faulty stabilizer can indirectly serve as an indication of serviceability. If the LED is faulty, the PN junction of the stabilizer will either be open or short-circuited.
- The TV set does not enter the operation mode, the remote control is not responding. Front panel LED is either on continuously or is blinking.
Repair or diagnostic of main board BN41-02528A should be started with checking stabilizers and power converters necessary to power the microcircuits and matrix. If necessary, software (software) should be updated or replaced. In some cases to repair MB board (SSB) you may need to replace the chips - SDP1531, K4F8E304HBMGCH, 25Q80DVSIG, 25Q40CLSIP, S24C512C with new or known good ones. In cases of BGA technology, defects are usually localized by heating.
If you have no TV channel reception, but your TV set is working properly from external devices, the first thing to do is to check the BN40-00323A tuner power supply voltage and update the software. It is necessary to check the I2C communication pulses with an oscilloscope.

In this case the panel may be defective - damage to the strips, cables, for example, as a consequence of moisture after an unsuccessful washing of the screen, the T-CON board (Timing Controller) may be defective. But quite often the MainBoard BN41-02528A is defective and so is the software.
Then first it is necessary to check the panel power supply voltage, fuses on the T-CON board, as well as the supply and reference voltages of the column and line drivers - VGH, VGL, Vcom.
If these measurements are within normal limits, it is necessary to trace the LVDS signals from MainBoard BN41-02528A, as well as synchronizing signals to the driver stubs with oscilloscope.
The LED TV screens that are flooded or poorly washed can be repaired in about half of the cases, usually if there is no significant damage to the cables and panel strips.
I would like to remind the users once again! The attempts to repair the SAMSUNG UE49KU6500 TV without the appropriate qualification and experience can lead to its complete unrepairability!

Decrease backlight current from 530 mA to 430 mA - added another 10k resistor R9137 in parallel, and adjusted current with trimmer R9140 in power supply unit BN44-00876A.

To reduce the backlight current in the BN44-00876A block with the SM1251, you must first extend the current adjustment range of the trimmer resistor by changing the ratings in the divider. To do this, you can halve the R9137 resistor rating on the BN44-00876A power supply board.
The second option is to increase proportionally the rating of the resistor (current sensor) R9165 at the source of the converter's power switch.
