These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

BEKO TVs FAULTS AND REPAIR COMMON FAULTS



  • Chassis 14.2. => D 507 is being damaged => Check and replace [L503].  Also check whether  D507 touches chassis holder or not.
  • Chassis 142 => Audio problem => When the unit warms up, sound goes out.  Stops reacting to remote control or front panel buttons.  Picture still OK.  Turned Off by  power Off button, and turn it back again, no sound, no response to remote control, and the picture disappears too  =>  Check and replace [C304], connected to pin number [24] of IC 301 [Reset input pin].
  • Chassis 14.2  => Picture enlarging and getting normal.  Power supply voltages are OK  => Check bad solder at pins of [C519].
  • Chassis 14.2  => Colors disappearing  => Replace [C412] connected to pins '62 & 63' of IC101 (TDA9563H|N1); from 56Pf to 39Pf, and [C413] from 33Pf to 39Pf.  If colors are still not correct insert 47Pf on pos C412 and 22Pf on pos.413.
  • Chassis 14.2  => P+ is put on the use  => Check and replace IC101.
  • Chassis 14.2  => Left speaker sound distorted  => Check and replace C336.
  • Chassis 14.2  => No sound  => Check and replace C178(4.7nF).
  • Chassis 14.2  => Unfocussed & snowy picture  => Check and replace R-162 (470 Ohm).
  • Chassis 14.2  => Picture is going off and returning frequently  => Check R529 [1E] and check the solder terminals to this resistor.
  • Chassis 14.2  => Picture is getting bigger and smaller as sound is advanced  => Check and replace R606 | R607 | 
  • Chassis 14.2  => TV does not work  => (1) - Replace ST601 with 3.14. (2) - Check C150MF 400V. (3) - Check IC101; IC401;IC601;T601; R639; R607; ST601; PH601.
  • Chassis 14.2  => Does not work by remote control  => R606 (1Ohm); T601(k2750).
  • Chassis 14.2  => No picture  => Replace C143(100Nf).  Check and replace IC 101.
  • Chassis 14.2  => TV works sporadic on standby  => Replace TH601-MCR22.
  • Chassis 14.2  =>  Picture is bad  => Replace R162(470Ohms).
  • Chassis 14.2  => AV does not work  => Check and replace IC 101.
  • Chassisl 14.2 =>  Picture is OK for some minutes, and goes off  => Check and replace IC 401.
  • Chassis 14.2  => Picture is shifting on sides  => Check if R514 contacts heatsink or not.
  • Chassis 14.2  => After switching On, lines appear on the upper part  => Check and replace IC501(TDA8359).
  • Chassis 14.2  =>  high pictched noise => # Check and insulate vertical choke coil. ## Check and varnish L502 coil. ### Chek DST.  #### Checl L601.
  • Chassis 14.2  => Channels are changing automatically => Check and replace IC101.
  • Chassis 14.2 => White lines on picture => Check and replace R709 on CRT base board.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Picture is distinct and mat => Check and replace R162.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Vertical lines on picture => Check the solder terminals of DST.
  • Cahssis 14.2 => No Teletext => Check from service menu whether Teletext is open or not.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Protection activated at standby mode => Cehck R529 for loose solder terminals.
  • Chassis 14.2 => TV cannot enter service mode by service remote control => With the following software versions onwards, to enter service mode, first activate the picture menu with user remote control, and press "9-3-0-1".  {Press "0" button to exit from service mode}. # Stereo Versions:  SB8973-A02. ## SB8975-A02 | Mono Versions:  # SC3325-A05. ## S3325-B07. ###SC3325-B07. #### SC3325-D05.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Horizontal output blows off (BU508DF) => Check and replace C129(2.2nF) on pin 11 of IC101.
  • Chassis 14.2 => No sound => Check and replace C178 - 4.7nF on pin 26 of IC101.
  • Chassis 14.2 => No picture => Check and replace R162 - 47R connected to +8V.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Is Hotel Mode available => Not available. Hotel mode in service mode is for application only.
  • TCN16 | 2003 => 14.2 => If the unit is in power off state long enough, and then always when you switch it on, the complete upper part of the picture is messed up and fuzzy => Check and replace vertical IC TDA8359J on position IC501.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Colored spots on corners => Replace 9R PTC on R602 with two 18R PTCs in parallel.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Sometimes fly back lines => Replace 220R 1/4W R709 with a stronger one.
  • Chassis 14.2 => Microprocessor spare part codes in the service manual are not correct => See TCNs2003/10, 2003/08 and 2002/17.
  • Some channels are absent => Replace R129 with 2.5KOms pot meter, and change the value of C143 as 47N.
  • No horizontal sync => Check and replace IC101.
  • Bad noise at some channels => Check and replace IC101.
  • Sound is distorted => Check and replace C112.
  • Spot on CPT during shut Off => Check and replace C704 on CRT module.
  • Sound is distorted during start up => Check and replace C350.
  • Sub-woofer sound is not good => Check 1nF on position C361, which is parallel to speaker.
  • Vertical defects => IC501(TDA8359J) and R522(fuse resistor).
