DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE
How to remove Battery
Before disassembling the computer, follow these steps:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
Remove the battery:
1. Turn the computer upside down on a Ưat surface.
2. Firmly slide the release latch (1) to unlock the battery and slide the battery release latch (2) to release the battery.
3. Lift the battery (3) from the middle and then pivot it outward (4) to remove it from the computer.
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
Remove the battery:
1. Turn the computer upside down on a Ưat surface.
2. Firmly slide the release latch (1) to unlock the battery and slide the battery release latch (2) to release the battery.
3. Lift the battery (3) from the middle and then pivot it outward (4) to remove it from the computer.
To insert the battery:
1. Holding the battery in the
middle, slide the battery (1) straight into the computer until the
battery release latch locks into place.
2. Reset the battery lock (2) to the locked position.

How to remove Service door
1. Using a small Phillips
screwdriver, loosen the service door screws (1).
2. Lift the door (2).
3. Slide the service door (3) forward to remove.

How to remove Memory module
Before removing a memory module, follow these steps:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
5. Remove the service door
Remove the memory module:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.

Remove the memory module:
1. Spread the two retaining
tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory
module. (The memory module tilts up.)
2. Remove the memory module (2) by pulling it away from the slot at a 45 degree angle.

How to remove WLAN module
Before removing the WLAN module, follow these steps:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
5. Remove the service door
6. Locate the WLAN module (2).
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
5. Remove the service door
6. Locate the WLAN module (2).
Remove the WLAN module:
1. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables (1) from the terminals on
the WLAN module.
2. Remove the Phillips M2.0×2.5
screw (2) that secures the WLAN module to the system board. (The WLAN module
tilts up.)
3. Remove the WLAN module (3)
by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle.
How to remove Optical drive
Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the optical drive:
1. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove the Phillips M2.5×6.5 screw that secures the optical drive to the computer (1).
2. Using the screwdriver, push on the rear of the CD/DVD drive to disconnect it from the computer
3. If necessary, use an unbent paperclip and press in gently on the paper clip (2) until the disc tray releases. Pull the tray (3) out from the front until the optical drive is completely removed from the computer.
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the optical drive:
1. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove the Phillips M2.5×6.5 screw that secures the optical drive to the computer (1).
2. Using the screwdriver, push on the rear of the CD/DVD drive to disconnect it from the computer
3. If necessary, use an unbent paperclip and press in gently on the paper clip (2) until the disc tray releases. Pull the tray (3) out from the front until the optical drive is completely removed from the computer.
How to remove Display panel
Before removing the display panel, follow these steps:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the panel:
If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly subcomponents:
1. Remove the plastic screw covers (1) and the two Phillips M2.5×3.0 screws (2) that secure the display bezel to the display assembly.
2. If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly subcomponents:
a. Flex the inside edges of the bottom edge (3), the left and right sides (4), and the top edge (5) of the display bezel until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure.
b. Remove the display bezel (6).
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the panel:
If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly subcomponents:
1. Remove the plastic screw covers (1) and the two Phillips M2.5×3.0 screws (2) that secure the display bezel to the display assembly.
2. If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly subcomponents:
a. Flex the inside edges of the bottom edge (3), the left and right sides (4), and the top edge (5) of the display bezel until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure.
b. Remove the display bezel (6).
c. Remove the four Phillips
M2.0×2.5 screws (1) and carefully move the display panel (2) to
the keyboard .
d. Release the tab (1) and
disconnect the connector (2). Lift the panel (3) to remove it.
How to remove Keyboard
Before removing the keyboard, follow these steps:
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the keyboard:
1. Remove the Phillips M2.5×6.5 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
1. Turn oƫ the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is oƫ or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the keyboard:
1. Remove the Phillips M2.5×6.5 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
4. Insert a thin tool or a
keyboard push tool into the keyboard screw hole, and then press on the back of the
keyboard until the keyboard disengages from the computer.
5. Turn the computer right-side
up with the front toward you.
6. Gently slide your ƭnger along the top edge of the keyboard to release
the keyboard clips (1). Lift the rear edge of the keyboard (2),
and then swing the keyboard up and forward until it rests upside down on the
palm rest.
7. Release the ZIF connector (1)
by lifting the connector tab to which the keyboard cable is connected, and
then disconnect the keyboard cable (2) from the system board.
8. Remove the keyboard (3).
How to remove Top cover
Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by ƭrst unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by ƭrst unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery:
a. Optical drive
b. Remove the service door
c. Remove the WLAN module
d. Remove the memory module
e. Keyboard
Remove the top cover:
1. Remove the ƭve Phillips M2.5×3.0 screws that secure the top cover to the base enclosure.
b. Remove the service door
c. Remove the WLAN module
d. Remove the memory module
e. Keyboard
Remove the top cover:
1. Remove the ƭve Phillips M2.5×3.0 screws that secure the top cover to the base enclosure.
2. Disconnect the power button
cable (1) and the TouchPad cable (2).
3. Close the display and turn
the computer upside down.
4. Remove the eleven Phillips M2.5×6.5 screws from the bottom of the
computer.
5. Remove the additional three
Phillips M2.0×1.5 screws from the optical drive bay (1) and the three Phillips
M2.5×6.5 screws from under the service door (2).
6. Turn the computer over and
open the display.
7. Gently press on the right upper corner (1) where the display
hinge and top cover meet. Lift around the edges of the top cover (2).
Lift to remove the top cover (3).
