These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

LG 42PG 60UD _ SOFTWARE UPDATE - AUTO DOWNLOAD USING USB MEMORY STICK _ POWER VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT




SOFTWARE UPGRADE
These instructions are applied all of the 42” PLASMA TV, PA81A Chassis.


Using ‘power on’ button of the control R/C, power on TV.  USB file (EPK) version must be bigger than downloaded version of main B/D.
  • Insert the USB memory sick the PCB ASSEMBLY.
  • Using ‘power on’ button of the control R/C, power on TV.
  • S/W download process is executed automatically.
Using ‘power on’ button off the control R/C, power on TV.
  • All adjustment process is executed one time through RS-232C.
  • Command send -> ADC Calibration -> Model name download -> EDID download.
MANUAL MODEL NAME DOWNLOAD
  1. Press ADJ KEY on R/C for model name D/L.
  2. Select “0.Model Option” and press ENTER.
  3. Select model name by using D/E(CH+/-)and press ENTER.
MODEL NAME:  42PG60UD-AA
MODEL OPTION VALUE:  56030130

MANUAL ADC ADJUSTMENT
  • Press ADJ KEY on R/C and enter EZ ADJUST.
  • Select “1.EDID D/L” by using D/E(CH+/-) and press ENTER.
  • Select “Start” by using (VOL+/-) and press ENTER.
  • ADC Adjustment is executed automatically.
EDID DOWNLOAD
  1. Press ADJ KEY on R/C and enter EZ ADJUST.
  2. Select “5.EDID D/L” by using (CH+/-) and press ENTER.
  3. Select “Start” and press ENTER.
  4. EDID download is executed automatically.
  5. Press EXIT key on R/C.

POWER VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT
[Va ADJUSTMENT]
  • After receiving 100% Full White Pattern, HEAT RUN.
  • Connect + terminal of D.M.M to Va pin of P811, connect [--]  terminal to GND pin of P811.
  • After turning VR901, voltage of D.M.M adjustment as same as Va voltage which on label of panel right/top. (Deviation; ±0.5V).
[Vs ADJUSTMENT]
  1. Input signal : RF noise signal.
  2. Connect + terminal of D.M.M to Vs pin of P811, connect [–] terminal to GND pin of P811.
  3. After turning VR951, voltage of D.M.M adjustment as same as Va voltage which on label of panel right/top. (Deviation; ±0.5V).

TO INPUT THE SHIPPING OPTION DATA
  • Push the IN-START key in a Adjust Remocon.
  • Input the Option Number that was specified in the BOM, into the Shipping area.
  • The work is finished, Push [ENTER]  Key.
SERIAL NUMBER AND MODEL NAME INFORMATION DISPLAY
  1. Push the menu button in DTV mode.
  2. Select the SETUP -> Diagnostics -> To set.
  3. Check the information.
