REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

General recommendations for repairing TV LCD
LG 32LC2RB, like other televisions, it is advisable to start repairing with inspection of external and internal elements and modules. In some cases, visible external damage to the elements can suggest the direction of troubleshooting and localization of the defect even before the start of the necessary measurements at the control points of the nodes of electronic circuits. Useful tips can include swollen capacitors, ring cracks formed in the soldered terminals, a charred paint layer on the resistors, signs of overheating of the board, and many other external signs familiar to experienced repairmen.
If the LG 32LC2RB does not turn on, no control lights on the front panel light up or blink, therefore, there is a very high probability of a power module 68709D0006B malfunction. In some cases, only the processor power regulator may be faulty. It is advisable to start the troubleshooting of the power supply module by checking the state of the electrolytic capacitors of the rectifier filters and the mains fuse. Defective capacitors should be replaced. If the mains fuse is broken, it is necessary to check first of all the power semiconductor elements - rectifier diodes and transistors W20NM60 (PFC), which are often found in such a state of breakdown.
If a breakdown of the power switch is detected, it should be remembered that in a switching power supply (IIP) it does not fail by itself without any reasons that should be sought by checking other elements of the primary circuit - electrolytic capacitors, PWM controller F9223L (PWM), FA5501A (PFC), STR-W6251, which can only be checked by replacement, as well as other semiconductor elements (diodes, transistors, zener diodes).
If, when you turn on the TV, the image appears and immediately disappears, or is initially absent when you turn on, but there is sound and other functions work, there is a high probability of a malfunction of the inverter (power converter for the backlight). In such cases, the lamps, the inverter and the common power module are subject to verification, in which the electrolytic capacitors of the rectifier filter supplying the inverter should be checked. When diagnosing a malfunction of the inverter with the protection off, special precautions must be taken, because there is a risk of failure of the power elements of the inverter. After the diagnosis, it is imperative to restore the protection circuits for the inverter to operate normally.
The motherboard 68709M0348F should be checked if there is no reaction to the remote control and function buttons, the standby indicator blinks or lights up constantly. In such cases, if the converters or power regulators of the microcircuit are working, a software update may be necessary. In cases of complex repairs of MB (SSB) and in the presence of the necessary skills and equipment, sometimes it may be necessary to replace its chips VST693G-FA-B3-000 1.71VT01, AD9381, 24C32, TPA3100D2 and other possible faulty components. Malfunctions associated with the application of BGA soldering technologies are usually easily diagnosed by the heating method.
VCTP tuner malfunction: V3.16 is installed after checking the software and all supply voltages at its terminals. The data exchange of the tuner with the processor via the I2C bus can be controlled by an oscilloscope.
Attention! Users and owners of 32LC2RB televisions who do not have the appropriate qualifications, knowledge and experience are strongly discouraged from attempting self-repair in order to avoid negative consequences that could lead to complete non-repairability of the device.

SCHEMATIC MANUAL ----------------------->  LG 26LC2R, 32LC2R Chassis LP61A

The appearance of MainBoard 68709M0348F is shown in the figure below:

68709M0348F
68709M0348F can be used in TVs:
LG 32LE2R-ZJ (Panel LC320W01 - SL01), LG 32LC2RB (Panel V320B1-L04 REV.C1).
PSU Advanced
According to the conditions of compliance with modern world standards for household switching power supplies, the 68709D0006B module provides for the use of a Power Factor Correction unit. The PFC circuit is a flyback converter based on the FA5501A PWM controller. The reactance of an electrolytic capacitor of a line filter at a frequency of 50-60 Hz is usually not more than 20-30 ohms and its charge directly from the network through open diodes could reach tens of amperes per pulse if no filtering were applied.
As a result of the PFC conversion, an increased voltage on the capacitor (about 380V) cannot directly open the rectifier diodes, on the anode of which the voltage will always be slightly less (about 300V) and then its charging current will always be limited by the elements of the PWM controller. As a result, the envelope of the high-frequency pulses of the consumed current will repeat the shape and phase of the input sinusoidal voltage. The presence of an increased voltage (+ 380V) on the network capacitor indicates the serviceability of the PFC node.
The appearance of the power supply
Main features of the device LG 32LC2RB:
Installed matrix (LCD panel) V320B1-L04 REV.C1 or T315XW01 V.5.
The matrix control uses the Timing Controller (T-CON) V320B1-C03.
To power the backlight, an I320B1-16A inverter is used, it is controlled by the OZ964GN PWM controller. A transformer 4012L is installed in the inverter converter. As power elements of the inverter, keys of the type AO4614 are used.
The necessary supply voltages for all nodes of the LG 32LC2RB TV are generated by the power supply module 68709D0006B, or its analogs using microcircuits F9223L (PWM), FA5501A (PFC), STR-W6251 and power switches of the type W20NM60 (PFC).
MainBoard - the main board (motherboard) is a module 68709M0348F, using chips VST693G-FA-B3-000 1.71VT01, AD9381, 24C32, TPA3100D2 and others.
Tuner VCTP: V3.16 provides the reception of television programs and tuning to channels.
