REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

General recommendations for TV LCD LED repair
Possible manifestations of defects
- PHILIPS 50PUT6400 TV does not turn on and does not show any signs of operability at all. No response to the remote control and front panel control buttons.
In such cases, the fault should be looked for primarily in the 715G6973-P02-002-002H power supply module. In the absence of the necessary supply voltages in the secondary circuits of the converters, it is necessary to check the power switches (TK18A60V, TK11A65D) and rectifier diodes for possible partial or complete breakdown.
In the event of diode breakdowns in the secondary circuits, the converter can operate in an emergency mode of short circuit without output voltages, and with a short circuit in the power elements of the primary circuit, the mains fuse and / or current sensor in the source of the key usually breaks off.
Breakdown of Mos-Fet keys used in switching power supplies is often caused by malfunctions of other elements, for example, in the power supply circuit of a PWM controller, in frequency setting or damper circuits, as well as in negative feedback stabilization. PWM microcircuits (PWM) LD7591T, LD5532 are usually checked by replacing them with new ones, or knowingly working.
- There is no picture, but there is sound and reaction to commands from the remote control. Or the image appears immediately after switching on and disappears.
In some of these cases, the malfunction is caused by the lack of display backlighting. The reason can be found in the malfunction of the LEDs, in the violation of the contact connections of the LED strips, or in the provision of their power supply (LED driver).
It is impossible to check the LED bars for a break without disassembling the panel with a multimeter or tester. For these purposes, it is necessary to open all series-connected PN junctions and a voltage of the order of tens of volts is required, and ideally a current source. Having disassembled the panel, it is necessary to check each LED separately. Chinese multimeters tend to light one 3-volt LED in the forward direction. In the case of using dual 6-volt LEDs, the PN junction of its protective zener diode can serve as an indicator of serviceability. In faulty LEDs, the zener diode will either be cut off or broken through in the K / Z.

If PHILIPS 50PUT6400 has no picture, but there is sound, often the TPT500DK-QS1 display backlight simply does not work. Moreover, in LED TVs, the LEDs inside the panel usually fail, less often the LED driver.
In such cases, you can see a barely noticeable image with a successful hit of external light on the screen.
To replace the LEDs, disassembly of the TPT500DK-QS1 LCD panel is required - a process that requires experience and qualifications from the master. We do not recommend doing such work on your own to the owners of TVs and craftsmen who do not have experience in repairing LCD panels
If there is no image, and the backlight is on, the screen becomes slightly lighter when turned on, and in an open TV you can see the light through the holes in the panel case.

In this case, the panel may also be faulty - damage to strips, loops, for example, as a result of moisture ingress after unsuccessful washing of the screen, the T-CON (Timing Controller) board may be faulty. But often the main board MainBoard 715G7030-M0G-000-005K turns out to be faulty, a software failure is also possible.
Then, first of all, you need to check the panel supply voltage, the fuses on the T-CON board, as well as the supply and reference voltages of the column and line drivers - VGH, VGL, Vcom.

If these measurements are within the normal range, it is necessary to use an oscilloscope to trace the passage of LVDS signals from MainBoard 715G7030-M0G-000-005K, as well as synchronizing signals to loops with drivers.
Flooded or unsuccessfully washed screens of LED TVs can be restored, in about half of the cases, usually if significant damage has not formed in the loops and panel strips.

- The TV does not go into operation, does not respond to the remote control. The indicator on the front panel is on or blinking.
Repair or diagnostics of the 715G7030-M0G-000-005K motherboard should begin with checking the stabilizers and power converters required to power the microcircuits and matrix. If necessary, you should update or replace the software (software). Sometimes the elements of the MainBoard board need to be checked or replaced (if necessary) - MT5593FPIJ, THGBMBG6D1KBAIL, H5TQ2G63FFR-RDC, TAS5760LD. In cases where a BGA processor is used, its malfunction is usually detected by the local warm-up method.
Before replacing the TDSY-G480D tuner, if there is no tuning to the channels, you must first check the software and the supply voltage at its outputs. It is also necessary to make sure that the tuner and processor can exchange data via the I2C bus
I remind users again! Attempts to repair the PHILIPS 50PUT6400 TV on your own without the appropriate qualifications and the necessary experience can lead to its complete non-repairability!

Attention! The TPT500DK-QS1 panel of the PHILIPS 50PUT6400 LED TV is an expensive and unreliable element.
Do not allow any impact on the glass and pressure on the screen surface to avoid damage to the LED panel!
It is also unsafe for liquid to spill onto the screen. Sometimes one drop is enough if it drips down the glass onto the cables to make the TV unrepairable.
