These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

TROUBLESHOOTING
DIAGNOSING THE ERROR
Before servicing the Television
1. Verify the TV has the symptom the customer indicated.
2. Check to see if the latest Software is installed.
a. If not, install the latest version.
3. Determine the replacement part required.
VIEWING THE SELF CHECK DIAGNOSIS HISTORY
When an error is detected, the Self Check screen records the number of times the error occurred. This is helpful in confirming past occurrences of an error and for determining if an error is intermittent when the customer is not sure what is causing the television to shut down. If the screen displays a “0”, no error has occurred.
Press the Power  to turn on the TV and then turn it off again.
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within 1 second of each other:
Info(i+) > Channel (5) > Volume (--) > Power
NOTE: This differs from accessing Service Adjustments Mode (Volume +)

TRIAGE CHART
Use this general Triage Chart to determine what may possibly be causing the error before going out to the customers location.
Confirm the symptom from the customer. Red Dot: (Primary) Most likely defective part.
2. Select that symptom from the chart. Blue Triangle: (Secondary) Possible defective part.
3. Bring the primary component listed for that symptom.
5. Chart Color Code.
4. Follow the  flowchart to isolate the board  .

REPAIRING THE TV
If the latest Software does not correct the issue, complete the following:
1. Verify the television has the symptom the customer indicated.
2. Replace part causing the symptom.
3. Install the latest version of Software (Required for ALL repairs).
4. Perform the required service adjustments and checks.
5. Verify the repair resolved the issue.
REMOVING THE TABLE TOP STAND
1. Place TV face down on a flat and steady surface.
2. Remove all screws and grasp as shown to detach the Table Top Stand.
REMOVING THE LOWER COVER
1. Locate and remove all screws from the Lower Cover.
2. Locate the areas shown in the illustration and detach the Lower Cover from the TV.
REPLACING THE MAIN BOARD
The Main Board used in these models is available for repair.
1. Slide the Side Bracket and Under Bracket to detach from Main Board.
2. Locate and disconnect the connectors. Then remove all screws from the Main Board and lift to detach.
3. Install the new Main Board, connectors and screws.
4. Update the Software.
After ALL repairs UPDATE the SOFTWARE to the latest version.
Software update procedure
a. Insert the USB device with the latest Software into one of the TVs’ USB ports.
b. Connect TV to AC power.
c. Wait at least 20 seconds.
d. Press the Power on the remote to turn ON the TV.
e. Wait until the Software update is completed.
5. To access Service Mode, turn TV ON and OFF again then press the following buttons within 1 second of each other:
Info (i+) > Channel (5) > Volume (+) > Power
6. Press the DN until Panel Selection is selected.
7. Press Left or Right to select the correct Panel Code for the TV model.  (Use the table below for reference)
8. Locate the Serial Number for the TV on the side of the Rear Cover.
9. Press DN until SERIAL NUMBER EDIT is selected.
10. Press RIGHT to be able to select the first digit.
11. Press UP or DOWN to select numbers and then RIGHT to move to the next digit until Serial Number is complete.
CAUTION: The Serial Number can only be selected once. Be sure to verify the information is correct before saving the changes.
12. When the complete Serial Number displays, press (+)
13. On the confirmation screen, press LEFT to select YES and then (+)
14. Press DN until MODEL NAME EDIT is selected.
15. Press RIGHT to be able to select the frst character.
16. Press UP or DN to select characters and then to move to the next space until Model Name is complete.
NOTE: Make sure to include dash in Model Name.
CAUTION: The Model Name can only be selected once. Be sure to verify the information is correct before saving the changes.
17. When the complete Model Name displays, press (+)
18. On the confirmation screen, press LEFT to select YES and then (+)
19. Press POWER  to exit Service Mode
How to remove the speakers, replacing the switch unit
Disconnect the connector from Speakers and lift as shown to detach.
REPLACING THE SWITCH UNIT
1. Disconnect the connector from the Switch Unit and lift as shown to remove.
2. Install the new Switch Unit and its connector.
