These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

BEKO - L6E CHASSIS SERVICE MODE and ADJUSTMENTS LCD - PLASMA

SERVICE MODE [1] =>

  • Enter digits [9=>3=>0=>1] in sequence by the remote control to enter the service mode.  Service menu has '3' sub-menus.

Navigation through these menus can be done by pressing "OK" button.  Every adjustment made to this menu will save automatically.
FACTORY MODE:  There are two values for this adjusment.  "OFF" & "ON".  When "OFF" is set, the unit goes to standby at start up else the unit operates directly.
I2S PRESCALE : This adjusts the level of volume received via HDMI.
SCART PRESCALE:  This adjusts the level of analogue stereo sound at MSP  Scart Audio inputs.
NICAM PRESCALE:  This adjusts the level of NICAM  stereo sound at MSP IF Audio Inputs.
FM | AM PRESCALE:  This adjusts the level of  FM|AM stereo sound at MSP  IF audio inputs.
AGC:  Adjusts the Automatic Gain Control value.
WHITE-R | WHITE-G | WHITE-B | PIP WHITE-R | PIP WHITE-G | PIP WHITE-B:   These are used for color bias adjustment.  [Unlike other items in the service menu, changes will take effect immediately.
FACORY RESET:  Resets all values to Factory Settings.
BACKLIGHT:  Selects the backlight illumination level of the panel.
TUNER TYPE:  Selects the type of tuner, should be selected parellel to the tuner used in the unit. 
TELETEXT:  Selects the Teletext type.
TIMER MODE:  If OFF Timer is selected, the user will be able to enter time of the day info for the TV to switch Off.  If Sleep Timer is selected, the user can specify some time period, after which the TV will go to standby automatically.
MSP CLIP:  There are '4' values to this. 
  1. Adjustment.
  2. Selection.
  3. Option.

MSP CLIP:  
There are four values for this


  1. With "Reduce Vol" - MSP output limiting is done by Volume.
  2. With 'Reduce Tone" - MSP output limiting is done by Bass and Treble.
  3. With "Compromise" - MSP output limiting is done by Volume, Bass & Treble.
  4. With "Dynamic" - MSP output limiting is done automatically internal by IC.
HOTEL MAX VOLUME
  • By this, the volume level at Hotel Mode can be limited
COUNTRY:  Selects country.

HOTEL MODE:  Enabling Hotel Mode has two effects.  First, Setup Menu is no longer available by the user.  Second, maximum adjustable volume is limited to Hotel Volume value.

STANDBY RECALL:  If this option is "Off", the TV will stay in standby mode, when switched On.  Of this option is "On" TV will recall its last standby status.

RECALL LAST AV:  If this option is On, the TV will recall the last AV mode when switched On.  If it is 'Off' then will start up with standby.

MSP CAR. MUTE:  If this option is ON, sound processors' carrier mute functionality will be enabled.  The MSP will mute the sound automatically if signal quality is bad.  Setting this option 'Off' will disable this function.

WSS RF:  If this option is ON, TV automatically goes to WSS mode when recognized via AVs.  Setting this option 'Off' will disable this function.

AUTO AV 16:9 :  If this option is On, TV automatically goes to 16:9 mode when recognized via AVs.  Setting it to 'Off' will disable this function.

FIRST ATS:  If this option is set ON, TV will display country selection menu in the next start.  After some country is selected, the user will be prompted for the start of Auto Programming Process.

HEADPHONE:  If LCD consists of headphone this parameter will be opted as 'ON' else 'Off'.

PARENTAL LOCK:  When 'ON' is set, "Parental Lock" is added at OSD.
