These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

RE-ADJUSTMENT

After changing the panel module, re-adjustment is needed  for power unit, signal board and for video board.  It is recomended to start the re-adjustment after 30 minutes warm up with the Butn-In signal.

HOW TO SET BURN-IN SIGNAL

 [RED, GREEN, BLUE, WHITE, YELLOW, CYAN, MAGENTA, BLACK SIGNAL]

Turn Off the sub-power button or power button on the remote control, and then turn On the sub power for more than 5 seconds while you keep pushing  [Volume Dn & Recall] buttons located on the bottom of the TV set.  When you fall out from Burn-in mode, turn Off the sub power button or Power button on the remote control, then turn On the sub-power button for more than 5 seconds while you keep pushing (Volume Dn) button located on the bottom of the TV set.

8.1Vs and VA voltage adjustment on Power unit.


  1. Connect DC voltmeter to the Vs test point and Ground on the power unit.
  2. Connect VGA(75), no setup, and all black signal to RGB input terminal.
  3. Check the amount of Vs & Va voltages printed on the label located lower side on the panel module.
How to Adjust
  1. If the difference of printed voltage of VS and the value of the DC voltmeter of Vs is over [+/- 0.4V], adjust the Vs adjustment volume located upward on the power unit to within [+/- 0.4V.
  2. If the difference of printed voltage of Va and the value of DC voltmeter of Vs is over [+/- 0.4V], adjust the Va Adj volume located upward on the Power Unit to within [+/- 0.4V]
TO SET SERVICE MODE ADJUSTMENT
  • Turn Off the sub-power button or Power button on the remote control.
  • The turn On the sub-power button for more than 5 seconds, while keep pushing 'input Select' & "Recall" buttons located on the bottom of the set.
Preparation.

  1. Indicate the service adjustment mode.
  2. Select 'Ship-2', then press "Recall" button for more than 3 seconds by remote control.  The screen disappears, and EEPROM is initialized.
  3. A service mod screen will appear after initialization end again.
  4. To call an item to adjust, use Up/Dn buttons on the remote control.
  5. To adjust the data value to selected item, use Left/Right buttons on the remote control.
  6. To memorize the data, press 'Enter' button on the remote control
