These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

PANASONIC - TC-LC32C12 SERVICE MODE AND ADJUSTMENTS



TO ENTER SERVICE MODE

  • While pressing "Volume (-ve)" button on the main unit, press "Info" button on the remote control '3' times within '2'seconds.
KEY COMMAND
  • [1] button => Main items selection in forward direction.
  • [2] button => Main items selection in reverse direction.
  • [3] button => Sub items selection in forward direction.
  • [4] button => Sub items selection in reverse direction.
  • [Vol] button => Value of sub items select in forward direction (+), in reverse direction (-).
  • Value is shown as hexadecimal number.
  • Preset value differs depending on models.
  • After entering the adjustment mode, take note of the value in each item before starting adjustment. 
  • To 'Exit' from service mode, switch Off the power button on the main unit, or Power button on the remote control.
SRV-TOOL
  • Select SRV-Tool in service mode.
  • Press OK button on the remote control.
DISPLAY SOS HISTORY
  1. SOS history (number of LED blinking) indication.  From left side; Last SOS, before Last, three occurrence before, 2nd occurrence after shipment.  This indication except2nd and 1st occurrence after shipment will be cleared by [self check indication, and forced to factory shipment settings].
POWER ON TIME/COUNT
  • To display the time count menu, high light position, then press 'Mute' for 3 seconds.
  • Time:  Comulative power On time, indicated hour : minute by decimal.
  • Count:  Number of On times by decimals.
  • This indication will not be cleared either of the self-checks or any other command.
  • Disconnect the AC cord from wall outlet to 'Exit'.
HOTEL MODE
  • Purpose:  Restrict a function for hotels.
  • Access command to the Hotel Mode setup menu: In order to display the hotel mode stup menu, enter the following command within '2' seconds.
  • [TV]:Vol.[Dn]+[REMOTE]:INPUT(3 times).
  • To 'Exit' hotel mode, disconnect AC power cord from wall socket.
CHECK II2 BUS LINES
  • Produce TV reception screen.
  • While pressing "Volume (-ve) button on the main unit, press 'OK' button on the remote control for more than 3 seconds.
  • Self check indication and forced to factory shipment settings.  
  • Produce TV reception screen.
  • While pressing "Volume (-ve)" button on the main unit, press 'Menu' button on the remote control for more than '3' seconds.
  • To 'Exit' unplug the power cord from wall socket.
POWER LED BLINKING CODES
  • [1] blink => Inverter SOS => LCD panel
  • [3] blinks => SOS Sub 1.2V, 1,8V, 3,3V, DTV 12V, Tuner 6V, P 17V => A-board/P-board.
  • [4] blinks => DTV 12V => P-board.
  • [6] blinks => Sub 5V => A-board.
  • [9] blinks  => P17V  => A-board/P-board.
  • [13] blinks  => Emergency SOS.  Communication error between IC8001&IC4003
