However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.

SELF DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION

When defects are reported, as Power failure occasionally or Video or Audio fails from time to time, and cannot be confirmed at the time of repair, the self diagnosis function can be used to confirm these occurrences and indicate or limit the scope of the circuit to be examined.

Some programmed channels, channels caption data and some other settings or user setting may return to factory settings.

TO ACCESS THE AIR SELF-DIAGNOSIS MODE

  • With TV mode RF nevertheless, simultaneously press "Volume (-)" button on the 'TV' and 'Menu' button on the Remote control.
  • To 'Exit' this mode, switch OFF the TV.
TO ENTER SERVICE MODE
  1. Select channel [99].
  2. Set Timer for [30] minutes.
  3. Press (Recall) button on the remote control, and (Down) button at the front panel of the TV.  [do not forget to press "Function" panel of the device before pressing the 'Down'.
  4. Press "Red" button on the remote control to make adjustments.
METHOD OF SERVICE CO2
  1. Enter into service mode.
  2. Select "CEC Check" and press the 'Hold' button on the remote control to enter the service mode-2.
METHOD OF SELF DIAGNOSIS
  • Press the "Timer" button on the remote control and 'Down' panel of the TV.
  • Press "Power" on the remote control to 'Exit'.
FUNCTION OF WAY HOTEL
  • Press the 'Down' panel of the TV while pressing [TV/AV, TV/AV] on the remote control.
  • Press the [MENU,MENU] on the remote control to 'Exit' Hotel Mode function.
COMMAND BUTTONS [ SERVICE -1]
  1. Press the "Green/Red" to move between functions.
  2. Press 'Yellow/Blue" to change data value.
  3. Press [OK] button after each adjustment to store the new adjusted value in memory.
COMMAND BUTTONS -SERVICE-2]
  • Press "Red/Green" to select.
  • Press [1] of [2] to select the 'bit'
  • Press (+/-) or (Up/Dn) to change the bit '0' or '1'.
  • Press [OK] button after each adjustment to record the new value into memory.
LED BLINKING CODES

When there is an abnormality in the unit, the protection circuit will reset the unit to standby mode.  
At this time, the bad block can be identified by the number of times the Power LED flashes on the front panel of the unit.
