REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

RCA TVS _ GENERAL PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS _ TROUBLE TO RECEIVE ALL CABLE CHANNELS_POOR PICTURE QUALITY

RCA TVs _ GENERAL PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS _ Trouble to Receive all Cable Channels_Poor Picture Quality

TV IS WORKING, BUT NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE ALL THE CABLE CHANNELS

  • Select Guide Plus+ menu from the main menu.
  • Select Setup fron Guide Plus+ Menu.
  • Choose 'Yes' when asked if you've a cable box.
  • After completing the Guide Plus+ setup, select Setup from Main Menu ... not from Gunide menu.
  • Be sure to search for all channels when prompted.

If you don't have Guide Plus+ feature;

  1. Check to see that the Air/Cable setting is correct.
  2. Accessing this setting varies depending on model.

Here are 2 options that are common on many TVs.
Option-A

  1. Press Menu button on the remote.
  2. Select Channel Menu.
  3. Select Signal type.
  4. Choose Air/Cable.

Option-B

  1. Press Menu button on the remote.
  2. Select Setup.
  3. Select Auto Program.
  4. Select Source.
  5. Choose Air/Cable.
  6. Select Auto program to let the TV reprogram channels.

Check that the channel is programmed into memory.  There are a couple of ways to do this.
Use the TV Menu system.  Accessing this setting varies depending on model.

Option-A

  1. Press the Menu button on the remote.
  2. Select Channel Menu.
  3. Select List.
  4. Use Vol and Ch buttons to move through the menu and add any missing channels.

Option-B

  1. Use the number buttons on the remote control to tune to the channel.
  2. Press Menu button on the remote.
  3. Select Setup.
  4. Select Edit Program.
  5. If the channel is in memory, it will be labelled 'added', and the number of channel will appear.

TV HAS SOUND, BUT PICTURE QUALITY IS POOR

  • Perhaps the TV station or the Cable or Direct TV programming channel is experiencing problems. Try scanning through the channels and to see if other channels are fine.
  • Try adjusting antenna.  Check antenna connections and inspect the antenna to ensure that it is good working order with no broken wires.
  • Make sure all of the cables to the other components or cable box are properly connected and are firmly secured to the jacks.

Try adjusting picture quality;

  1. Press Menu on the remote.
  2. Press Arrow buttons to select the Picture Quality menu.
  3. Select Picture controls.

Here you can adjust the brightness, color, contrast, tint, and sharpness of your picture. If you suspect that the signal from your local TV station that you're receiving from an off-air antenna is weak, try adjusting the shrewdness function to help improve the weak signal.
Some TVs even feature Video Noise Reduction option in the picture quality menu.  Try selecting one of the options to see if it assists in improving the picture quality.

Adjusting the picture quality on some RCA TVs is done slightly differently.

  • Press Menu button and then use Ch+/- button to select Video Menu.  Use Vol+/- button to change the individual setting.
  • Try the factory reset too.
  • Press 'Cancel' or 'Reset' option
