These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Output power: RMS; 300 W (150 W + 150 W) (CD-C661H For U.K.) (10 % T.H.D.)
Output terminals: Speakers; 6 ohms
Headphones: 16-50 ohms (recommended; 32 ohms)
CD digital output (optical)
Pickup Unit Ass’y: 92LHPC1MASY

Pickup Unit: (Not Replacement Item)
DISASSEMBLY
* Take cassette tape and compact disc out of the unit.
* Be sure to remove the power supply plug from the wall outlet before starting to disassemble the unit.
* Take off nylon bands or wire holders where they need to be removed when disassembling the unit. After servicing the unit, be sure to rearrange the leads where they were before disassembling.
* Take sufficient care on static electricity of integrated circuits and other circuits when servicing.
HOW TO OPEN THE CHANGER
Change, turn fully the lock lever in the arrow direction through the hole on the loading chassis bottom in this state.  After that, push forward the CD player base.
 [After removing the connector for the optical pickup from the connector, wrap the conductive aluminum foil around the front end of connector to protect the optical pickup from electrostatic damage.]
Be careful when installing the CD changer mechanism.  Install the CD changer mechanism on the CD player base after the shift lever has been set in the highest position.
DISASSEMBLING THE SPEAKER BOX
LOADING MOTOR & PICKUP REMOVAL
Remove the screws (A1) x 2 pcs., to remove the loading motor.
Remove the screws (B1) x 2 pcs., to remove the shaft (B2).
Remove the stop washer (B3) x 1 pc., to remove the gear (B4)
