However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.

HOW TO ENTER SERVICE MODE TO BANG & OLUFSEN - CHANGHONG - CROWN & BLACK DIAMOND TVs





Bang & Olufsen TV model LX4500, LX5500, LX5000, and LX6000

  • Power ON the TV.
  • Press TV on remote control and short the pin service mode plugged p700 on PCB14.
  • Select press p+/p- button and change value pres v+/v- button.
  • Save change and exit press STOP button on remote control.
CHANGHONG 21BM91

  • To enter the DESIGN/SERVICE mode Set the volume to no sound.
  • Then press and hold the MUTE button on the remote control, and press the MENU button on the TV to enter the factory mode.
  • Red “S” is displayed on the upper center of the screen indicating that the TV is in service mode.
  • To exit from the S mode, turn off the TV set by the POWER button on the remote control. 
CROWN CM-2007

  • Open the remote, removing the top cover.
  • Use the keys that have no access External and under "previous channel" and "Sound." Canal + / - Select the item with the VOL + / - adjusts its value. 
BLACK DIAMOND BDS1451UK

  • To enter Black Diamond TV factory mode press Menu and press following key 4, 7, 2, 5.
  • Factory mode load in 0.1 second,
  • Use Red, Green, Blue, Yellow button to select and change.
  • Save settings press Ok button.
  • To exit from factory mode press MENU button.
