REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

Description of LED Indicators.
POWER LED > Green LED > Light when the TV set is on.
STANDBY LED > Red LED > Lights up in red when TV is in PC standby mode. If LED blinks continuously, this may indicate that the TV needs servicing.
PIC OFF/TIMER LED > Green or Orange LED >  Lights up in green when Picture Off is activated.  Lights up in orange when the timer is set When timer is set, the LED remains lit even when the TV is turned off.
SELF DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
The units in this manual contain a self-diagnostic function. If an error occurs, the STANDBY LED automatically begins to flash. The number of times the LED fl ashes translates to a probable source of the problem. A definition of the STANDBY LED flash indicators is listed in the instruction manual for the user’s knowledge and reference. If an error symptom is difficult to reproduce use the Remote Commander to display the record that is stored at the internal NVM to specify the cause.
{One flash is not used for self-diagnosis}
Diagnostic Indicators
When an error occurs, the STANDBY LED flashes a set number of times to indicate the possible cause of the problem. If there is more than one error, the LED will identify the first of the problem areas. If the errors occur simultaneously, the one that corresponds to the fewest fl ashes is identified first. (Results for all of the following diagnostic items are displayed on screen. No error has occurred if the screen displays a “00”)
TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a second of each other:
DISPLAY > CHANNEL-5 > VOLUME (--) > TV POWER.  The Self Check list displays.  Information Indicator displays time of last 3 events (Not used in FIX2 models).
Resetting the Diagnostic Indicators
After completing the repair of the set, reset the Self Check screen to set all the display results to “00”.
* TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
