REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

HOW TO CHECK THE T’CON BOARD OF SAMSUNG OLED TV

How to check the T’Con board of Samsung OLED TV

T-Con Board for the OLED TVs
The T-Con Board has 2 complimentary circuits for the Main Video Processing and Multi View Processing Video Signals. As seen here there are 2 LVDS Connectors at the Top for the two Video feeds coming from the Main Board. Two FRC ICs and 2 T-Con ICs are included for processing. Two Panel output Connectors on both the Left and Right of the Board send the final video drive signals to the panel OLEDs. Two 12V Fuses are located near the top receiving the 12VDC supply voltages from the two LVDS Cables. And Three Operating Status Indicators are present at the left side of the board.

T’Con operation

The Main & Multi “A & B” Video Data Signals are sent to The Two Fox FRC Processors with complex switching to the TCON IC Sections for various viewing modes. The Normal Standard Mode is at a full 240Hz Image. The Multi Viewing Mode is at 120Hz Image for both the Main Video & the Multi Video. The 3D Mode for the Main Video Image is at 120Hz Left & 120Hz Right. The 3D Multi Viewing Mode is at 60Hz for the Main Video L & R images and Multi Video images. The final result Left & Right Images are output to the panel.
The 3 Status Indicators can be observed by viewing from the left edge of the T-Con Board without removing the Shield. The indicators are for the status of the 12VDC Regulator, 3.3V Regulator and the DC to DC Converter for Drive Signals to the Panel. To Test the T-Con Board: Follow the check procedure.

For further Testing Preparations or replacing the T-CON Board:

1. Remove 4 screws shown here.

2. Carefully Release the 4 Panel Ribbons & the Cable at the lower left and remove the T-Con Board. Note the position of all top & bottom Heat Sink Pads.

3. Remove the Shield & note all Pad positions.

4. Re-install T-Con Board & Cables.

Measure & verify the 12VDC voltage on each side of both fuses, Referenced to ground.
If missing on both sides check the 12VDC feeds from Main Board & LVDS Cables
If missing on just one side of the fuse replace the defective T-CON Board. The two fuses can also be tested without removing the shield.
