REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

HOW TO ENTER SERVICE MODE TO THOMSON TVS GUIDE

HOW TO ENTER SERVICE MODE TO THOMSON TVs

Thomson Televisions - Service Mode Entry> Switch the set to standby, ad switch it OFF by its front panel ON/OFF switch.
> Press and Hold the 'Blue" button on the remote control, and switch ON the set by its front panel power ON/Off switch.
> To save the adjusted value in memory, and to exit from service mode, switch it OFF by its front panel power ON/OFF switch.

  Before entering service mode, be sure that the entire button on the remote control will work properly, if anyone found inoperative, do not use it to enter the service mode.  If it is a universal remote control; check it well.  With most universal remote controls, sometimes, all the button functions might not work as it should be.  If so, try to set it with another set-up code said for your device, and then make sure about its working.  I strongly recommend you to use the original remote control to enter service mode.
This is because;
  Suppose you have to enter the service mode to adjust certain parameter.  You haven’t made sure that all the function of the remote control will work properly with your set or not.  After entering the service mode, as you know, limited buttons on the remote control will be active.  For example, in service mode, channel Up, Channel Dn, Volume Up and Volume down, and the OK button, Power button and Numerical buttons are used to adjust the data parameter.  After adjusting all these parameters; you have to come out from the service mode to Normal mode.  Otherwise, you can’t operate the set.  Suppose, the service mode procedure tells you that, you should press the Power button on the remote control to Power Off the set, to come out from service mode to normal mode.  Power down the set by its main power button won’t make it to normal mode.  If the power button on the remote control does not work, how can we come out from service mode to normal mode?  In fact, you can’t come out of service mode.
  The most important thing to note is this.  Before you attempt to enter the service mode option, read and understand all the instructions.  Be sure that there is enough detail to Exit from the service mode.  If it is not there, never enter the service mode. For some sets, there will be no Exit option.  To such sets, Power it OFF by the main power switch will do the same.  But you should make it sure by reading the instructions.
  For your information, I’ve included some set-up codes too here, to check with your universal remote control, if the present set-up do not work with all the functions it supposed to be.  Set-up a universal remote control is a trial and error procedure.  You might have to check with many set-up codes, before you get a proper code to your remote control to work properly with your set.  The included codes are the common codes works for your brand.
