REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

Toshiba: 28W23B

Picture displacement.  Enter into service mode, as stated above.  By pressing Green Button on the remote control, select the option [VP-1] (Vertical Position).  Make necessary data value adjustments.

Toshiba: CF 3060K;

Screen size problem.  Replace all capacitors in the vertical output section circuit.  There will be 5 or 6 of them.  Replace two 2.2MFd capacitors with good quality.

Toshiba: 175T9B;

Incorrect field lock when cold.  Horizontal instability.
Check the 47MFD capacitor [AGC coupling] ( inside the tuner/VIF) unit.

Toshiba: 2505DB:

 Frame collapse:
Repalce the diode fitted on the copper side of the printed circuit board. The diode (D570).

Toshiba: 198X6M:

Horizontal output transistor blows off repetedely.
Repalce [C403 & C408].

Toshiba: 2573:

Do not come out from standby.
Repace ZP82.  If this do not help, replce tuner.  Tuner is defective. (internal short).

Toshiba: 28WD98B:

Do not come out frm standby.
Check the 16VDC line for low voltage.  Repalce C872 [220MFD 50V]

Toshiba: 2577B:

White horizontal lines.
Check all solder terminals to vertical output IC. [TA 8427k].  Resolder all the solder terminals, by applying fresh solder.

Toshiba: 215R8N:

Vertical distortion.  Elongated picture [top portion]
It will be best to repalce all the electrolytic capacitors in the vertical section.  Select capacitors with working temperature 105 degree C.

Toshiba: 219T9B:

Intermittent horizontal problem, after some hours of woring.
Replace the field output chip [AN5515] (IC 303).

Toshiba: 145R7B:

Dead.  No picture; no sound; no standby light.
Check power switching IC [STR50020].  Check and replace all diodes related to SMPS power supply circuit.

Toshiba: 210T6BZ:

Sound distortion.  Harh sound.
Check the voltage across 'C832'.  Be sure it to be below 25VDC.  Repalce Q809; C866; C896; C864.  Check for any dry solder terminals in the main power supply regualtor section.

Toshiba: 2550TB:

Do not come out from standby. Do not switch on.
IC TA8427K is faulty.  Repalce it.

Toshiba: 2857DB:

Horizontal instability.
Check for any loose or dry solder points at the terminals of regulator transistor [Q420]. This regulator transistor supplies voltage to frame generator IC.

Toshiba: CF 2666:

Screen with retrace lines, and non leanar structure. Might be too tall than normal.
Check C305(2.2MFD-50V). C342(1MFD50V).  These capacitors can be located very near to vertical output IC [IC-301].

Toshiba: 2863DB:

To fault find to this TV, the protection device [D471], must be desoldered out first.  It is a thyrister can located next to the SMPS transformer's secondary side.
