Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

How to troubleshoot a Garmin Nuvi 1300 which is locked
A master reset needs to be performed to unlock the device. Here are the steps for a Master Reset which will clear any software hang-ups:
Turn the unit off and unplug it from the power source.
Touch the lower right hand corner of the screen and keep it touched.
Still in contact with the screen turn the unit ON.
Once the device powers on release the power button.
A message appears asking if all the user data can be erased.
Release contact with the touch screen and touch YES.
This should automatically reset the device. Now follow what the on screen prompts indicate and allow it to acquire satellites by placing it where it has unhindered exposure to the sky.
How to update the firmware on a Garmin Nuvi 1300
A free application called Garmin WebUpdater will need to be downloaded and installed on a computer.
This application is a guide which takes the user through the software update process for a Garmin device. It can be run whenever one needs to check for software updates and install them.
Once the application has been installed on the computer the Garmin device can be plugged in with a USB cable and the software updated. Once the updates are completed the system will intimate what was downloaded and whether it was successful.
Garmin Nuvi 1300 retrieval of lose map
A factory reset and WebUpdater have failed to restore it.
The only way this could have happened is because some part would have failed on this Garmin Nuvi 1300 resulting in an electronics issue.
If the device is under warranty a free replacement can be asked for.
However, if it is out of warranty the only solution is to have it repaired at a reliable facility. There is no way the map can be retrieved and it will need to be freshly re-installed/downloaded.
How to reset Gramin Nuvi1300
A soft reset can fix a Garmin Nuvi 1300 that is freezing up or not working correctly. The reset unfreezes the unit and launches the main menu. If a soft reset does not solve the problem, or if you are selling the unit and wish to erase all of your saved information, perform a master reset instead.
A master reset restores the original factory settings to the unit. Once the information is deleted, it cannot be restored.
Master Reset
* Turn the Garmin Nuvi 1300 off.
* Press your finger against the bottom-right corner of the Garmin display screen. Leave your finger in place as you power the unit on.
* Release your finger when the display screen asks, "Do you want to erase all user data?" to * Tap "Yes." The unit will begin to reboot. Do not use the unit until the main menu is displayed. The reset process should take about 45 seconds.

How to repair a Garmin Nuvi 1300 which will not accept the name of a city
The touch screen might need to be re-calibrated.
Turn the device off and disconnect it from the power source.
Touch the top left corner of the screen and keep it held.
Still in contact with the screen, turn on the device till the Garmin logo comes up.
With the screen still touched wait for a dot to appear which could take as long as 60 seconds.
Once the dot/dots come up release the screen and touch the precise center of each dot. The fine tip of an eraser or stylus might be more accurate.
If that is done accurately a message should confirm that the screen has been re-calibrated successfully. Now touch the OK button to complete the process.
Test the device to check if the screen now accepts a new city.
Even after performing a soft and hard reset, why does a Nuvi hace a blank screen
If the device is being charged through a car charger try charging it through a computer. If this does not help then the battery might have failed.
The battery can be expected to fail any time after two years. Replace the battery which should resolve the problem. If it doesn’t then the device itself could be faulty.
How to load a pre-programmed data card with map updates into a Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS
Put the card into the device which should immediately read it. If it is an update it should show the same area with improved accuracy and terrain shading.
How to troubleshoot a Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS which takes very long time to start
The device probably needs a software update if one hasn’t been performed recently.
An update will help a unit find a satellite much faster. If a first time update is being done it will take a bit of time.
Also and update could erase much saved data.
To update the device it will need to be connected to a computer loaded with an application called Garmin WebUpdater.
However, problems may arise most of which can be self-repaired.
