REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

Channel skipping in 20XS DLX in VL band ( Ultima couple chassis )
Even with channel +/- Manual search and fine tuning also the channels are not getting locked. The reported problem was not seen in ES set having Philips tuner SR No : CO20XSST-4000004
The problem of channel skipping is observed only in VL band in cochin godown the signal strength is 68 dBuV to 75dBuV for entire VL band.
The skipped channels were getting tuned with repeated manual ch. Search +/-ve and the skipped channels were 100 % getting locked with fine tuning.
With repeated Auto tuning there was no consistency of channel skippages observed as during first auto tune less channels and with 2 , 3  more no of channels were observed to be skipped. There was no consistency of program Nos being skipped always.
The problem of channel skipping was not seen with Philips tuner after AUTO VIF VCO adjustment in service menu.
With AUTO VIF VCO adjustment with Savak tuner there was improvement seen with less no. of channel skippages reduced down to 2 / 3 channels from 6 to 7 channels. However there was no
consistency.  On one to one replacement of Panasonic tuner in place of Savak tuner there was no channel skippages observed.
With fixing of VIF VCO Alignment to digit 26 and reducing the tuning speed through Service.

Then switch off the set, and switch on the set and auto tune the set.
The above ROM correction through service menu is also found to be successful with GDC , Panasonic and Philips tuner tried.
The above solution was tried in 27 sets which include 7 sets with Panasonic tuner, 2 sets with Phillips tuner, 4 sets with GDC tuner and rest 14 sets with Savak tuner.
7 sets were soaked for more than 2 hours and confirmed the effectiveness of the solution, then the same sets were switched off for approx... 1 hour and was again confirmed the 100 % effectiveness of the solution. Also the same sets were repeatedly auto tuned for three times and found the consistency of all the channels locking in entire band
