REPAIRING AND NOT THROWING AWAY

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

Richtige Fernseher haben Röhren!

In Brief: On this site you will find pictures and technical information about Service Modes, Circuit Diagrams, Firmware Update procedure, Disassemble procedure, Universal remote control set-up codes, Troubleshooting and more....

If you go into the profession, you will obtain or have access to a variety of tech tips databases HERE IT IS Master Electronics Repair !.

These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution. In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Happy repairing!

RAINBOW COLORS DISPLAYED WHEN PICTURE TUBE BASED TV IS SWITCHED ON. AUDIO OUTPUT IS OK.

RAINBOW COLORS DISPLAYED WHEN PICTURE TUBE BASED TV IS SWITCHED ON. AUDIO OUTPUT IS OK.

This fault is due to its focus pin voltage problem

The main reason found with this type of problem is with it picture tube base connecting socket, which is directly soldered to picture tube base card. The focus pin [Pin number-1] of the picture tube must be noted for rust or dirt.  As voltage supplied to this pin is high [comes between 2500 to 4600VDC], even a slight loose contact to the base plug socket will cause ionization which in turn produces Ozone [by combining Oxygen in the atmosphere], to molecules of Oxygen (2 * O2) combines at presence of high voltage to form one molecule of Ozone (O3), releasing one Oxygen atom free.  This Oxygen atom at nascent state will be very highly reatable with most material it happens to contact.  In short, it will combine with two atoms of Hydrogen to form one molecule of water.  This water molecule condenses within the focus contact, casing poor contact within the focus contact, and moisture.  The fault will be over and the TV will work normally after some time, say within half hour or so, but it will again arise when the set have been switched overnight.  In the morning, the fault will arise again, and will get rectified itself by half an hour or so.

Although the fault rectifies and set works normally, it is not good to use the TV in this condition, as it may cause permanent damage to focus pin, which will be irreparable. Replace the picture tube base connector socket, soldered directly to the picture tube base card, as soon as possible.  Never use the TV when this fault remains.

The cost of this socket will be very less, but if you use the TV with this fault, within some days or weak, you may have to replace the picture tube.
