These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

Since the diagnostic results displayed on the screen are not automatically cleared, always check the self diagnosis screen.  After completed the repairs, clear the result display to "0".

CLEARING THE SELF DIAGNOSTIC LIST

  • Error History and Error Count:  Press the Channel '8' => 0.
  • Panel operation time:  Press Channel '7' => 0.
EXITING SELF DIAGNOSTIC SCREEN
  • Turn OFF the Power to the TV by pressing  the Power Button on the remote control, or at the Power Button on the TV to Exit this mode.
HOW TO ENTER SERVICE MODE
  • Turn ON the main Power switch to place the set in the Standby Mode.
  • Press the buttons on the remote control as follows, to enter service mode.
  • { DISPLAY => Channel-5 => Volume (+) => TV POWER }
First of all, when enter into service mode, can see 'Digital Service Mode'  Whenever press the 'Options' or 'Jump' on the remote control, each service mode is changed  "Digital" => "Chassis" => "VPC".

After entering service mode, then turn Off the Power Switch.

WHITE BALANCE ADJUSTMENT
 Do this adjustment only when needed.
Change Data of "VPC" service mode. [006WB category]
  • Press "i" or "4" on the remote control to select WB adjustment menu.
  • Change data by pressing  '3' or '6'.  Each range of this items is 0~255.
  • Press 'mute' + '0' on the remote to save data.  Service command is changed to Write, indicating writing process.
  • After a while. 'Write' comment returns to 'Service' which means writing process is done.
VCOM ADJUSTMENT
Only execute this adjustment, if necessary.
  1. Change data of "Digital" service mode.

  • Select  '003 DIG_SRV_MODE" category , by pressing  '2 or 5' on remote control.
  • Press '0' to go to "Test Pattern" mode.
  • Press 'Enter' or '12' to go to Video Test Pattern.
  • Press '7' or '8' to select Test Pattern.
  • Press 'Enter' or '12' twice to show the VCOM TEST PATTERN

2.  Change Data of 'VPC' Service Mode

  • Select '002 VCOM' category by pressing 2 or 5  on remote.
  • Select '000 ENABLE' item by pressing  1 or 4 on remote.
  • Change 'Enable' from '0' to '1' to enable 'VCOM' ajustment.
  • Select '000 ADJUST' item by pressing 1 or 4  on remote.
  • Change the data by pressing 3 or 6 on remote.
  • Finish the adjustment when the picture seems OK.
3.  Change Data of 'Digital' service mode
  • Select '007 VCOM' category by pressing 2 or 5 on the remote.
  • Change the item from '1' to '0' by pressing "3" on remote.
  • Confirm the final result of the 'VCOM' adjustment.
  • If 'Ok' finish the VCOM adjsutment.  If not good, pressing '6' to show the OSD again and go back to 'VCOM' adjustment. 
SAVE CHANGING DATA
  1. Change Data of "Chassis" or "VPC" service mode.
  • Press 'Mute' on the remote.  It shows green 'Service' changes to green 'Write'.
  • Press '0' or 'Enter' on the remote.  Green 'Write' changes to red 'Write'.  It indicate writing is processing.
  • After a while, red 'Write' change to green 'Service'.  Writing process is done at this point.
  • TV Reboot is necessary for applying data change.
CHANGE DATA
"Digital' service mode don't have to save. [except '002 MODEL' and '005 CHAPRESET' category]
1.  Change Data of "Digital" service mode. [except for  "003 DIG_SRV_MODE"  category.
  • Press 2 or 5 on remote to select [up/dn] category.
  • Press 1 or 4 on remote to select [up or dn] Item.
  • Press 0 or 10 on remote to select item

2.  Change data of "Digital' service mode [003_DIG_SRV_MODE category]
"003 DIG_SRV_MODE" is the one category of "Digital" service mode.  Please note because this operation is special.
  • Press 2 or 5 on the remote to select "003 DIG_SRV_MODE".
  • Press 1 or 4 on the remote to select [up/dn] Item.
  • Press 0 or 10 on the remote to select item.
  • Press number key " 1 ~ 9" directly . "*" stamp move.
  • Press '12 / enter / select' to decide and advance next step.  Press 'Return', when returning on the previous page.
3.  Write data for "Digital" service mode [002 MODEL" category]

# This procedure operation , when replaced the 'B' board.
## Do not write a wrong segment or destination information in product ID.  When wring setting is written, TV may not operate.
  • 000 SEG => Select JDM code information.
  • 001 DEST => Select destination information.
  • 002 MODELNAME => Select model name.
  • 004 SERIAL =>Can be set only once for a new board.
#  Change the data of each model.
##  Press 'Mute', '0' on remote sequentially.  It shows a red 'Write'.  It indicate writing is processing.
###  After a while, Red 'Write' disappears.  Writing process is done after a while.

SET TO SHIPPING CONDITION
  • Move to 'Digital' service mode.
  • Press '8' on the remote.  It shows green "Service" changes to green "RST".
  • Press '0' on the remote.  Green "EXE.RST" changes to red 'EXE.RST'.  It indicates writing is processing.  After a while, red 'EXE.RST' changes to green  'SERVICE'. and LED lights.  Writing process is done at this point.
An Other Way 
  • It can be set to shipping condition without entering service mode.  
  • { -> Cursor Up on the remote + Power Key on the front panel of the TV}
HDD REC SETTING

HDD Re-Register.
  • Press '2' to select "HDD Re-Register" Item.
  • Press 'Enter' or '12' twice to execute the command.
  • If Ok, xx = x+1
  • If not good = xx + x.
