These are an excellent investment where the saying: 'time-is-money' rules. However, to learn, you need to develop a general troubleshooting approach - a logical, methodical, method of narrowing down the problem. A tech tip database might suggest: 'Replace C536' for a particular symptom. This is good advice for a specific problem on one model. However, what you really want to understand is why C536 was the cause and how to pinpoint the culprit in general even if you don't have a service manual or schematic and your tech tip database doesn't have an entry for your sick TV or VCR.

While schematics are nice, you won't always have them or be able to justify the purchase for a one-of repair. Therefore, in many cases, some reverse engineering will be necessary. The time will be well spent since even if you don't see another instance of the same model in your entire lifetime, you will have learned something in the process that can be applied to other equipment problems.
As always, when you get stuck, checking out a tech-tips database may quickly identify your problem and solution.In that case, you can greatly simplify your troubleshooting or at least confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts.

SOFTWARE UPDATE TROUBLE SHOOTING AND POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 

Software upgrade Preparation to upgrade software
1) Power on and press "SETTINGS" button and ‘Left’ button on the remote control to check the SW version info .
2) Select and match upgrade package by the SW version info, for example , BDS270_EU VX.XX.XX, you must select the package HK_BDS270_EU_VX.XX.XX
3) Unzip the package, copy the ‘UPG’ folder to the root folder on an USB disc
OR
4) Start the CD Burning software and create a new CD project (Data Disc) .
5) Burn the UPG folder onto a blank CDR. Procedure for software upgrade:
A) Upgrade software via USB Flash Drive:
1) Plug in the USB stick mentioned in Preparation step 3).
2) Power on and press "SETTINGS" button to open the Settings menu.
3) Navigate to General Settings-> ‘System’ -> System Upgrade -> USB.
4) Press ‘OK” to start upgrade.
5) Unit shuts down when upgrade successful (about 2Min).
B) Upgrade software via CDR.
1) Insert the upgrade CD.
2) Power on and press "SETTINGS" button, invoke the Settings menu
3) Navigate to General Settins-> ‘System’ -> System Upgrade -> Disc
4) Press ‘OK” to start upgrade.
5) Unit shuts down when upgrade successful (about 5Min).

TROUBLE SHOOTING 
 Power on led doesn't work
Switch performance check > change switch
Check the c able XS603 is connect well to po wer board CN501 > Reconnect the cable
Check+5V,+12V,+5VSTB voltage on the power and front board > Refer to Power supply board par
Check the po wer on led control circuit is OK > Replace the FB
Replace the LED610,LED611
No display on VFD
Check every supply voltage on AM board is normal > Refer to Power supply board part
Check+5V,+12V,+5VSTB voltage on the power and front board > Fix the connection XS603 on front board and CN501 on power board, and 20pin FFC cable from FB to AM board
Check the pow er key is working normally > Replace U721 on AM board, or replace the AM board
Check the front bo ard signals VDIN,VCLK, VSTB > Check the U601 pin 31,32,34 arrive the condition XP808 13,1 0,9
Check whether bad solder exists on pi ns of VFD > Correct connection
Replace VFD or FB
Remote control does not work
Remote control does not work > Replace the battery for remote controller
Check the 2pi n FFC cable from AM to BD board is connect well > Reconnect the cable
Check the IR60 1 power supply is OK, IR1’3 is about 3.3V > Check the +3.3V net on front board
Replace IR1
Can’t read disc or can’t eject
Check whether the DVD loader running is normal > Check the connection 4pin cable from the BD board
Check 45pin and 5pin cable from BD board connection to the loader is normal > Fix the connection the 45pin cable and 5pin cable.
Replace the loader
5.1/2.1 channel no audio output
Check the 10pin/4pin cable is connect well from AM to JC board > Reconnect well
Check XP701 is short to GND > Replace the AM board
Check +32V at XP702 on AM board is OK > Refer to Power supply board
Check the system weather is ear mode or not, pull out the 4pin cable XS601 from FB to AM board XP806 > Replace the AM board
Replace the FB board
Tuner FM does not work
Check the DVD mode is OK,audio output is ok > Replace the AM board
Check Tuner module pin5 supply voltage is +3.3V > Check AM boa rd tuner voltage supply circuit
Check Tuner module pin6,pin7,pin8,I2S output > Change the Tuner module
Check the U202 74LV541 PIN20 VDD+3.3V, > Check the main board U202 power supply circuit
Replace U202 74LV541
AUX in does not work
Check the D VD mode is OK,audio output is ok > Replace the AM board
Check the AM board U 18 AK5367 PIN2,PIN3, PIN4,PIN5 L/R signal input > Check the main board R301,R302,R303,R304
check the U18 AK5367 PIN30,VDD+5V > Check the main board U18 power supply circuit
Check U18 AK5367 is broken > Check the U202 74LV541
Replace U18 AK5367
IPOD in does not work
Check the D VD mode is OK,audio output is ok >Replace the AM board
Check whether bad so lder exists on pins of BRIDGE connector > Correct connection
Check whether the remote can control the IPOD unit > Replace U721 or re place the AM board
Check U719,U720 input and output signal is ok > Replace U719, U720
Check the U18 AK5367 and U202 7 4LV541
COAX/OPTICAL does not work
Check the D VD mode is OK,audio output is ok > Replace the AM board
Check the coax/optical RCA connector is ok > Replace the RCA connector
Check U714 PIN3,PIN22 +3.3V > Check the main board U714power supply circuit
Check U714 CS8422 is broken > Check the U202 74LV541
Replace U714 CS8422
hdmi input does not output
Check connector is HDMI IN OUT IN 1，AND SET HDMI INOUT IN 1 INPUT  > Correct connection
Check the D VD mode is OK,HDMI output is ok > Replace the MA board
Replace U4 ADV7622
 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
